Daniel Keeran, born in 1947 in Marion, Ohio, lives in Victoria, Canada, and Kailua Kona, Hawaii. After completing an MSW degree at the University of Louisville, Kent School of Social Work in 1977, the author gained clinical experience in counseling and psychotherapy in hospital settings and in private practice. With his wife Jennie, he founded the Counselor Training Institute in 1985 expanding to five cities, and in 2005 they began the HomelessPartners.com program designed to connect the public to individual homeless people in shelters. This program is currently operating in over ten US and Canadian cities. In 2010 they began conversationtables.com with the goal of "connecting the community through conversation." He also co-founded the national Professional Counselors Association, and he is President of the College and Registry of Mental Health Counseling.
