As founder and president of the Homecoming Coaching Company, Alexander M. Davis (who goes by the nickname "Sandy") provides both one-on-one coaching and group programs for adults who are eager to increase their personal resilience, strengthen their leadership capabilities, and create a life for themselves that is more enjoyable and more rewarding than what they have been tolerating. In short, he is committed to helping others find their own way home so that they can consistently do their best work, enjoy inner peace, and experience joy every single day.
Sandy brings to his coaching work a breadth of work experience that spans education, the arts, and business in roughly equal measure. Over the years, he has made his living successfully in endeavors as varied as being an airplane pilot, a cabinet maker, a freelance photographer, a school teacher working with children with learning differences, a musician, a computer programmer/analyst, a software engineer, a technical instructor, a manager, and a business executive. He spent 14 years working inside high-tech companies, including nine years in director-level positions where he had multi-million dollar profit-and-loss responsibilities for both national and international training organizations.
For the past 13 years, Sandy has specialized in coaching business leaders who want to increase their capacity to lead effectively, and who want to become more fulfilled both personally and professionally along the way. He is also an expert at helping his clients increase their personal resilience so that they can weather the inevitable storms they must face. He teaches them how to do this with power and grace.
Prior to founding the Homecoming Coaching Company, Sandy spent 11 years as a co-founder and principal of ChangeWise, Inc., a small management consultancy based in Boston and San Francisco. The name of Sandy's new company reflects his commitment to finding his own way home. He now lives year-round on the coast of Maine where he has long-standing roots and many family members living nearby. He coaches his local clients both in person at his home office and over the telephone. He also works with clients nationally by combining occasional face-to-face meetings with frequent coaching sessions done via telephone.
Sandy is an authority on personal resilience. Over a period of several decades, he developed a straightforward methodology for developing and sustaining an abundance of resilience. He has codified a set of simple daily practices that enable you to dramatically increase your capacity to thrive, no matter what your circumstances. Sandy has also written and self-published two instructional manuals on how to develop and sustain an abundance of resilience. The first is entitled: The Recipe for ResilienceTM, and the second is: Zillience! How to Succeed in Business without Really Frying. (For more information about these instructional manuals, please go to Section (19) on the The Resilience CircleTM page.)
Sandy graduated with honors from the Phillips Exeter Academy, and holds a B.A. in Biology from Harvard University (Cum Laude in General Studies). He completed graduate work in Clinical Psychology at Clark University, and is certified by the International Coach Federation as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC).
Personal Information
After living in the Greater Boston area for 44 years, Sandy relocated home to the Mid-Coast of Maine in 2007. For the past 40 years, he has run an average of 5K every other day, thereby completing one "virtual" circumnavigation of the globe at the equator several years ago. He is currently several thousand miles into his second circumnavigation. In the summer, he loves to sail whenever time, tide, and weather permit. Three seasons a year, he also enjoys rowing his sleek white racing shell on a nearby lake. He is an accomplished dance musician, and for the past 38 years has regularly provided live instrumental music for New England contra dances in and around the Greater Boston area, and now in Maine where he is a member of a hot new local band. He and his two band mates go by the name Flowing Tide. They play joyful arrangements of zesty tunes for festive occasions. Sandy is extremely proud of his 26-year-old daughter who lives in Seattle, WA and his 24-year-old son who lives in northwestern Connecticut.
