Stephanie Dowrick is the author of a number of life-changing best-selling books, including Intimacy and Solitude, Forgiveness and Other Acts of Love, The Universal Heart and Choosing Happiness.
She has the rare distinction of having had No.1 bestsellers in both fiction and non-fiction, with two books, Tasting Salt and Forgiveness and Other Acts of Love, both being No.1. bestsellers in Australia in 1997. The Universal Heart was a No. 1 bestseller in 2000. Choosing Happiness is published in October 2005.
She has been a columnist for Good Weekend Magazine since 2001 and was for many years a regular guest on ABC Radio. A collection of her columns, along with some other more personal writings, was published in December 2004 as Free Thinking.
In June 2005 Stephanie was ordained as an Interfaith Minister. She has for many years given talks and conducted retreats and workshops on a variety of spiritual, psychological and ethical issues and continues to develop this aspect of her work.
Born in New Zealand, she lived in London for many years where in 1977 she founded the prestigious independent publishing house, The Women's Press. She has lived in Sydney since 1983 and is the mother of two adult children, Gabriel and Kezia.
