If you both are in agreement that breaking up is the best thing for both of you, then just accept this will happen and get on with the next stage of your life.

Come to terms with why the relationship failed. The majority of people would rather not face the facts and ignore the problems in the relationship. Deal with why it’s not working any more head on. Has your life with your partner really become that boring? Are you now so different from who he fell in love with? Do you never see your boyfriend due to work commitments? Realise why things failed and then work on resolving those issues.

A critical factor is communication. Ensure that you are calm and respectful before sitting down and talking through things about the relationship. Keep an open mind about all matters you discuss and respect each other’s feelings. I’m sure you will not agree on all points, but try to see other’s views.

Changing yourself in a positive way is a great way to save your relationship. You may both have to alter yourselves as people. Failure to change is one of the contributing factors to a relationship ending. If two people don’t make any effort to make changes in their lives, then ultimately this will lead to conflict.

Get some help and advice from doctors, and family and friends you trust. It’s always very beneficial to see help from a third party that is not involved directly in the relationship. Try to find people who have gone through similar experiences to yourself.
In order to salvage the relationship you have to ensure that you work closely with your partner. Nothing will be restored if you work alone. It’s imperative that you resolve things as a team. Because a relationship is based on two people and not just one. What’s the purpose of saving your relationship if you won’t work together? This will no doubt take a lot of time and effort on both your parts, but remember that it will be worth that effort in the future. Relationships have to worked on all the time for them to be a success as there is no such thing as the perfect relationship. You will feel an enormous sense of pride and satisfaction if you do manage to save the relationship and you will feel like it was all worthwhile.
