The Ovarian cyst is generally asymptomatic but sometimes pain in the pelvis and abdomen is common.
There are two types of ovarian cyst
The ovaries naturally release one egg in each month and it grows inside the tiny sac called a follicle. When the egg is ready the follicle breaks open and release it but if the sac doesn't open it causes a follicle cyst.
It is less common. As the egg is released follicle shrinks to its normal size and is ready for next. When fluid is collected in follicle it becomes a cyst.It may go away in a few weeks but it may bleed and cause pain as it grows.
According to Ayurveda, ovary disease is caused by problems in rasa and raktadhatus. When there is an excess accumulation of toxins and impurities in rasa and raktdhatus, the body keeps them in form of cysts in ovaries. In Ayurveda, an ovarian cyst containing a fluid is considered as kaphajagranthi. Kaphaja granthi is usually skin colored, painful and it increases the size slowly and when ruptured white, thick fluid is released. Increased kapha vitiates rasa and raktadhatus which caused an ovarian cyst.
