If you look in the mirror and say, I am overweight and not in great shape and do nothing, then nothing will change. But if you look in the mirror and see yourself the way you want to be in your mind’s eye… then things will change. We have proof of this.
We Have the Power of Intention!
There have been many studies showing that if people see their bodies in a new way their bodies respond and start to align with that vision. Intention and visualization are very powerful.
Visualization Group
In this study, they took people who were not into exercise and had them visualize their bodies the way they wanted to look. More youthful, more muscular, standing taller, better posture, and on and on for one hour daily. And they did this visualization for 30 days.
Exercise Group
Another group worked out with weights and did cardiovascular work and did all the exercising that was possible for one hour daily for 30 days.
Control Group
Another group did not exercise at all or do any kind of visualization. They just kept doing their normal routine for 30 days.
RESULTS
Exercise Group - The exercise group did see changes and they felt better about themselves when they looked in the mirror.
Control Group - The control group did not see any changes of any kind.
Visualization Group - The visualization group did not see great changes like that which took place in the exercise group… but they did see changes… more than the control group.
What they visualized was starting to come true, their bodies were changing becoming what they visualized in their mind.
Conclusion - If we exercise and visualize we have the best of both worlds. What we visualize and believe in our mind's eye will slowly start to become a reality.
This goes back to what it says in all the great spiritual texts… “See the Good in All Things”… “Be That Which You Want to Be”.
In fact, sports medicine uses visualization a lot… and there are many published articles in the Journal of Neuroscience and many other medical journals talking about this.
