Karma in ordinary parlance relates loosely to the “luck” which one encounters during one’s life. Historically, the word “Karma” is a Hindu term which dates back during the usage of the Sanskrit language and relates to the causes and effects of deeds through your mind, speech and body.
Far more specifically, current karmas are an echo of your past life while simultaneously your present actions create future karmas for your next life. Common factors which govern the creation of karmas in your next life relates to your response to your environment: the people you have in your life, your job, or your behaviour towards others and your mindset to events and situations which occur.
Akram Vignan, a modern-day Spiritual Science provides a deeper insight into the principle of karma. Karmas which were bound in your previous life by you and thus, whatever you see externally in this present life are all effects or reflections of your inner intent which were sown by you in your past life.
The principle of how karma works can be best understood by an example. If your best friend has just secured a very high-profile job, and she informs you about her good news, and externally you come across as being happy and delighted for her but internally you are full of envy, jealousy and think to yourself how did she manage to secure such a prestigious job, you will be binding demerit negative karma for your next life. Similarly, if you are genuinely happy for her and harbour no inner ill will you will bind merit good karma in your next life. Either way, your response and inner intent will bind karmas - good or bad. Good karmas will give you happiness in your next life and bad karmas will only bring sorrow.
Theory of Karmas and Myths of Karmas
Fundamentally, the principal reason behind the cycle of birth and rebirth are Karmas. Your present life reflects your past. The pain, sorrow and happiness are a direct result of demerit or merit karmas which you have charged and sown in your past life through your inner intent behind the action. This arises through the ignorance of your true Self –the Soul rather than your body and a lack of realization of the true nature of karmas.
These karmas that you had charged in your previous lives manifest when the law of nature deems it correct - it is when all evidences come together for that karma and it is then that you experience the unfolding of either merit or demerit karmas. Significantly, it is only the law of nature which determines when the karmas will give their results and certainly not God.
Similarly, many believe that bad deeds can be replaced by good deeds, this is not the case both karmas will have to be endured respectively.
Is there a permanent solution which can free you from the charging of karmas?
Absolutely, by attaining the knowledge of who you truly are - the Soul, you will acquire an understanding of ‘Who am I’ in relation to the body, mind and speech. Through Self-Realization you will live a happy and worry-free life and manage to be free from charging of karmas good or bad.
By not charging karmas you will be able to experience a blissful state of your true Self. This experience is free from inner emotions of anger, pride, deceit and greed. You will also begin to feel removed from attachments and abhorrence towards anyone or any situation.
