Is Your Marriaged At Risk and Is It Worth Fixing?
Marriage is hard work. You need to put in the effort to make it last. Every marriage runs into problems along the way. You and your partner might run into money issues, fidelity issues, trust issues, lifestyle differences, or a lack of chemistry. When you run into these problems, you may not know what to do. You may even consider a divorce. Here are some tips on how to tell if your marriage is in trouble and whether it is even worth saving the marriage.
How to Tell if Your Marriage is At Risk
Every marriage runs into problems. How can you tell if it's a normal problem or if it's a serious problem that can be putting your marriage at risk?
You know your marriage is at risk if you and your partner have extremely different opinions on your future. You may have assumed that children were in your future. If your partner doesn't want children, you probably aren't meant to spend the rest of your lives together. The picture is just too different. You shouldn't have to sacrifice children. They also shouldn't have to have children if they don't want to.
Another sign that your marriage is at risk is if your partner has a serious addiction problem that they just can't seem to shake. Addiction can take a serious toll on a relationship. You may fight with them and stick by them for awhile, but you can only take so much. After the fifth or sixth relapse, it may be time to let them fight their demons on their own.
Another huge sign of a problem is if the fighting gets too intense. It's normal to fight. It's not normal to have serious brawls every single day. If you both know there is a problem and have tried it all then to mend the marriage might be the last route.
Is Your Marriage Worth Fixing?
While divorce should always be a last option that you resort to after you have exhausted absolutely all other options, but, in some cases, it's the right answer. There are some relationships that just aren't worth the effort.
First and foremost, you should not stay in an abusive relationship. If a relationship ever turns physical, you need to get out right away and never look back. The person may just be a bad human being. You and your partner may also just be bad together and bring out a violent side of each other. Despite any feelings you may have, that's not a way to live through life. If you have children, you don’t want them to see that and grow accustomed to it themselves.
A marriage also probably isn't worth fixing if it is overly one-sided. If you are clearly much more in love with your partner than they are with you, it might be time to find someone who loves you.
No one gets into a marriage thinking that it's going to fail. You committed yourself, so it's important to fight for the relationship. Put in the effort. Give in a bit. Go to counseling. If you have tried absolutely everything you can think of and the problem still isn't resolved, it might be time to dissolve the partnership.
