Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, the Enlightened being has said:
“All the religions in the world are relative and of varying standards. Everyone finds an appropriate standard depending upon his or her spiritual development. However for the real religion, the religion of the Self, you will have to go ‘out of standard’. Only after having passed and accepting all the standards, does one become the supreme Self!”
In this world there are so many religions. Many will say we have to follow some mantra, we have to do some chanting, worship God, do fasting. But fasting or chanting mantras will not give us Self-Realization. Nevertheless, that is a developing stage; it helps the development of every person. But ultimately when we get Self-Realization, we get the real knowledge which makes us aware of ‘who am I’.
All religions are right in their own perspective, it all depends on one’s faith and where one is most comfortable and drawn to. Many turn to religion hoping to find answers to moral-spiritual questions. For many, religion offers support during challenging and difficult times providing solutions to their daily problems or unforeseen contingencies. Above all, religion provides hope, comfort and gives us a greater purpose to life which is very different from everyday ordinary living.
Fundamentally, religion helps to guide us to live by means of a moral compass that helps one advance in their spiritual development. Essentially, the purpose of religion is to leave the bad and progress towards the good.
Param Pujya Dadashri defines religion in very precise terms,
“That which brings forth ‘results’ is called religion. When anger, pride, deceit and greed progressively decrease and eventually become annihilated, that is religion. What is the meaning of doing darshan (devotional viewing of God), listening to religious discourses, doing introspective meditations (samayik), doing pratikramans (apology coupled with repentance) when not a single fault reduces in the entire lifetime? How can that be called religion?”
He further specifies,
“There are two types of religions:
a relative religion and
a real religion.
Relative religion is the religion of the mind, religion of speech, and the religion of the body. The other religion, the real religion, is the religion of the Self, that is the religion of the Soul.
Jain religion, Vaishnav, Muslim, Christianity etc., are all relative religions. The real religion, the religion of the Soul, exists in the heart of only the Gnani Purush (the Enlightened One; it cannot be found anywhere else.”
Pure Soul, the inherent nature of which is eternal bliss, is our real Self.
The Self is always in constant inner bliss irrespective of what the body and the mind are experiencing. But due to ignorance of our real Self, we have the wrong belief of ‘I am the body and the name given to the ‘body’. Thus mistakenly, the difficulties and distress which actually the body, mind and speech undergo, we assume that really we undergo.
Only an enlightened being can connect us to the Soul, our real Self, as He has already achieved the Soul and also has the powers to enlighten our Soul. He is free from attachments and abhorrence. He has conquered the inner enemies of anger, pride, deceit and greed. His ardent desire is that everyone acquires the bliss that He is experiencing constantly.

we are able to attain the religion of the Soul (Self-Realization) with the grace of the Enlightened One, in just an hour’s time.
With the right understanding of ‘who am I and who is the one that is suffering’ received from the Enlightened One, Our anger, pride, deceit and greed start decreasing, their effects become lighter, lesser and eventually leave as we remain in the awareness of the Soul, detached from the body and name, and experience the internal bliss more and more.
Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan has cited:
“Our happiness should be an innate part of us. Innate (natural) happiness arises from the religion of the Self. In the religion of the Self, one has to know the nature of the Soul.”
Thus, the religion of the Soul is the religion that gives us instant results. As we advance in this religion, the degree of our pain and suffering diminishes.

Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifest within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him.
