A common fear that stops people from being proactive is the fear of failure.
How can we know that it is there? If there is something we would like to do and feel hesitant doing it, the question can rise as to why we are hesitant. One possible reason could be that we are afraid of failing and so we hesitate to take the next step, so we postpone indefinitely doing something about it.
So, OK, we don’t like to fail. Nobody does. However, why is there a fear of failure? Most likely this fear is there because of the unwanted emotions the experience of failure brings. There must be at least one incident in the past that involved the experience of failure in something. If you wish to deal with the fear of failure you can try and remember one of those incidents in the past which involved you failing in something – or perhaps witnessing someone else failing – and the consequences experienced by that.
Did someone make fun of you? Or insulted you in front of others? Did others express their disappointment in you? Did they get angry at you, laughed at you or perhaps they showed joy with your failure? Or maybe they rejected you one way or the other?
Events like these can instantly disrupt your energy filed and cause unhealthy emotions. What sort of feelings did the experience of failure and the response to it created in you? Embarrassment? Disheartening? Sadness? Anger? Lack of self-worth? Anything else? If the memory of these events still causes you an intensity of such emotions, then they are wonderfully tappable issues.
Here I would like to share with you generalised tap-alongs using EFT shortcuts, that you might find helpful in eliminating the fear of failure. For greater success, however, tap directly on the issues rising from specific events.
Check your intensity in the scale of 0 to 10 (10 is the highest possible intensity).
Start with the setup:
“Even though, I have this fear of failure, I accept myself and the way I feel”.
“Even though I’m afraid to make a step forward, because I might fail and this would be devastating for me, I love myself and profoundly accept the way I am.
“Even though I’m afraid to try something new because I don’t want to experience failure if it doesn’t work out, I honour my feelings and who I am.”
“Even tough I’m afraid to go out of my comfort zone because the unknown is scary, I totally accept myself and the way I feel.”
BE: This fear of failure.
NE: This paralysing fear of failure.
UE: This overwhelming fear of failure.
UN: This anxiety from the fear of failing.
UL: This fear of the new.
CB: This fear of making a step forward.
UA: This frightening experience of failure.
TH: I’m so afraid to fail again.
(The above abbreviations stand for: BE: Beginning of the eyebrow - NE: Next to the eye - UE: Under the eye - UN: Under the nose - UL: Under the lip. - CB: Collarbone - UA: Under the arm - TH: Top of the head)
Check again in the scale what your intensity is now and if it has not reached 0 carry on with the following setup:
“Even though I’m afraid to fail because it will prove - again - that I’m not good enough, I choose to release these concerns now.”
“Even though I’m afraid to fail because I would again experience sorrow, I choose not to allow a failure determine who I am.”
“Even though I fear failure because others will make fun of me or criticise me, I choose to remain uninfluenced by what others think, feel or say about me and my life.”
BE: I’m afraid to fail
NE: Failure brings pain.
UE: Failure brings criticism.
UN: Failure brings embarrassment.
UL: Failure brings low self-esteem.
CB: I’m afraid to fail again.
UA: It’s too stressful to fail.
TH: I can’t handle failure.
And continue with another round of choices for releasing:
BE: I choose to release all fears.
NE: I choose to release all pain.
UE: I choose to release all limitations.
UN: I choose to release all embarrassments.
UL: I choose to release all dependencies.
CB: I choose to release all sorrows.
UA: I choose to release al criticism.
TH: I choose to release my low self esteem.
Continue with one more round of positive choices:
BE: I choose to accept me.
NE: I choose to accept my mistakes.
UE: I choose to accept who I am.
UN: I choose to try new things.
UL: I choose to expand beyond my comfort zone.
CB: I choose to trust myself and the Universe.
UA: I choose to appreciate myself.
TH: I choose to accept life – I choose to be me – I choose to be free.
After these rounds, hopefully you would be able to experience at least some relief from the original intensity. For possible greater results you might like to consider working on specific events as I mentioned earlier and for deeper issues consider working with an EFT professional.
