f you're new to prospecting in your network marketing business, those first few phone calls can be pretty scary.
I remember many years ago when I started doing my first prospecting calls for the company I worked for at the time. I wasn't just scared, I was terrified to my very bones. But I knew if I didn't make those calls, I wouldn't get paid. That was all the incentive I needed to start dialing. I was very fortunate to have a mentor who was kind and patient with me. He walked me through the process step by step. He showed me exactly what to say. We didn't work off of a script like a lot of marketers. He taught me that the most powerful and effective way to talk to people was to be honest and genuine. You can't get that from a script. It worked like a charm and I was very successful with that company for a long time.
There's a saying out there that "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care". When you're on a prospecting call with someone, don't jump right in pitching your product or opportunity. People are really turned off by this. The vast majority of the people I connect with are not actually looking for a new network marketing business to join. They're often already in an organization and are looking for help learning how to be successful at it. Perhaps they're brand new to the industry or they are not getting the support from their upline that they need to succeed.
I always start off by asking them several questions about themselves. I can't help them unless I know something about them. I'll usually ask them the name of their company, how their business is going and what kind of support they get from their upline. I take those answers and try to find some way I can help them succeed. For example, if they need help prospecting, I might spend some time working with them on how to get better at it. I will usually direct them to My Lead System Pro where they offer free prospecting training every week. They have top level earners doing live prospecting calls. I have learned a lot from these calls and have no qualms about directing other people to them.
It's important for you to remember that no matter what other activities you have going on, there is only one way to make money in network marketing and that's through prospecting. You can have 50 hot leads coming in every day, but if you don't prospect, they're worthless. But prospecting doesn't mean shoving your opportunity down other people's throats. It means finding ways to provide them with value and allowing them to come to you. If they see you as a trusted leader, they will come to you and ask about what you do. You won't ever have to hard sell them. Sell them on you first and your business second.
If you'd like to improve your prospecting skills, join My Lead System Pro and you will have access to their weekly prospecting training call.
I hope that was helpful.
Thank You for tuning in.
