Chakra awakening can be a very controversial topic, with two very opposite trains of thought. The answer may be, positive or negative, depending upon which school of thought you accept. Let's first cover the school of thought that would say yes to helping an inexperienced person to have a Chakra awakening. There is a wealth of enlightened knowledge, made available by knowledgeable reiki masters, yoga and meditation instructors; there are many MP3's, CD's and videos concerning this topic, by quite a few enlightened practitioners, but there is also an equal, or even greater amount of poorly written or inaccurately presented information, but writers and publishers only out to make a quick buck from what they perceive to be a “fad”. The problem for an inexperienced beginner is, sifting through the myriad of flashy covers and inflated bios, to find the real gems of Chakra balancing instruction.
This brings us to the other side of the arugment; some reiki masters and meditation and yoga teachers don't wish to see the good, and the bad, qualities contained within the seven Chakras, to be casually delved into by the inexperienced neophyte, without a experienced yoga teacher there. When a person experiences a Chakra awakening, it can result in a rush of emotions and memories, not all of which are good. Strong emotions, such as fear, lust, anger and depression might come boiling from the person, because of a Chakra opening, and teachers such as this believes when a student is ready for a Chakra awakening, is something to be decided by a meditation facilitator, because one definite reward of continued meditation or yoga practice is that the practitioner can better monitor their emotions than most.
