There is this amazing universal energy that is circling around us in this time in our lives, one that has a very strong feminine force. The new generation of women taking part in the work force, not just as an employee, but as the employer of a small business. 99% of employers are small businesses and women-owned businesses have increased 20% since 2002. 1 in 5 business earning over 1 million dollars are owned by.. you guessed it women. So the funny thing that I can't wrap my head around is why women are still "competitive" with one another.
Over a beautiful weekend with a dear girlfriend, we discussed many trends from childhood to adulthood. One of the topics that we really dove deep into was how women are still playing fierce with each other. Only to make matters worse, the upfront and brutal stabs have adjusted into passive aggressive hooplas. I started to wonder which one is worse? And furthermore, where does it stem from?
With all the women on the workforce making a difference in the lives of others through their work, I was appalled at how many instances--- just off the top of my head that stood out about how competitive females are with each other in and outside of work. Whether it's fighting about a guy who is totally not worth it or who is more successful, isn't it time to put away the fangs and start working together as a team?
Over the last twelve months I have spent most of my time trying to build a business where I can help women live a holistic lifestyle so they, too could pursue their hopes and dreams. If there is one thing I can truly relate to, it's that life can be tough, and it's still very hard being a woman. In order to make more money than the average man, we must start our own businesses. If we want to have a family, work, and have time for ourselves, we have to find balance. There is a lot to be considered.
Now, I am no where looking for a pat on the back or a big bouquet of flowers, although as a hard-working woman appreciation goes a long way, but I just can't let go that women are still throwing stones when they should be baking each other gluten-free cookies. With a good look in, the only way I could wrap my head around the subject was to pin it on good ole fashioned envy. Unfortunately, envy isn't a positive word. So I'd like to help turn the envy between gal pals into admiration.
Admiration is a form of love and compassion. When you admire someone you promote vitality and reinforce positive energy to circulate around your life. The dictionary defines admiration as: a feeling of pleasure, wonder, and approval. Admiration is such a beautiful thing. To admire someone is to speak highly them. It's not envy. Envy is nearly an antonym for admiration, because with envy there is jealousy and ego involved; admiration comes from a pure place of non-judgment, grace, and love.
There is nothing more that I want than to see my fellow woman succeed in all areas of her life. I have been through the struggle and honestly without friends or those feminine cheerleaders to cheer you on, life can become a series of one unhappy moment to another. If we, as women, truly supported eachother, no matter what stage of the game we're in relationships, career, and health, we'd find our hearts a little lighter and our pocketbooks a lot thicker.
Working with women has been one of my greatest achievements in my life. Without the female friendships I have been fortunate enough to develop over the course of my career, I wouldn't have been able to start my own clothing line. I needed models, makeup artists, photographers, hair stylists, and interns who would kindly devote some of their talents to my dreams so collectively we could showcase our talents and benefit as a team.
The bottom line is when you nurture your female relationships, you win big! If there is something you can do, teach, or give to your friend to help her along her path, by golly, just do it! If there is an inkling of jealousy, envy, or any degree of compeititon, choose to put it to bed. When you give, it comes back tenfold. When you give to a woman you gain favors, trust, and a friend for life. Let's collaborate with eachother to make the world an even better place to live, where our dreams are realized, and our women relationships are powerful!
