Studies have found that there is, indeed, a connection between one’s level of grief and one’s level of belief in the afterlife. A person can study metaphysics and the after life and find extensive evidence for its existence; however, the evidence is largely mystical in its nature and unscientific. This is not uncommon with most things spiritual. And some people need more evidence than others before they are willing to accept it as being real and true, including myself.
After the death of my own still born daughter I experienced tremendous amounts and depths of grief. I thought it would never end; that I would never survive it. The pain and loss that I experienced was staggering. As a victim if child abuse; I believed that I had experienced the worst in life. I was wrong. Nothing in life can prepare you for the loss of a child or any loved one for that matter; nothing except perhaps some insights and understanding of life after death.
When my daughter died, I began to study more about what life after death was. I wanted to know if it was real or not. Even the faintest glimmer of evidence to support that there could be an after life, provided me with a feeling of hope and the strength to keep going; to not give up on the long life I still had ahead of me.
