A relationship in its initial stages must be nurtured no matter if it is a marriage or not. There has to be balance in the relationship and both parties have to agree to disagree. Take some time to think about what really went wrong between you and what would make it different. After you have had about a month to yourself and your ex has gone through the cooling off period that is usually a month, then that is when you will want to make contact. You should not make physical contact by showing up at the job or house. You should write a short note telling the person that you have had time to think about everything and name the things that your evaluation taught you about what when wrong and how you think that fixing these things will give you both another chance.
Put a handle on any impulse to call your ex until you get a response. If you don’t get a response within two weeks, then make that phone call to ask if the note was received and ask if they could call you back to discuss it. If you receive that phone call, then that is a reason to hope for the best. You have to tread carefully when you both meet and don’t go too far back to the past, but try to let your conversation be meaningful and more on the future.
