Believing Your Beliefs and Doubting Your Doubts

Today I took a peek … a peek at the news that is. What’s so unusual about that you are probably asking, most people do that every day? You’re right, they do, but the fact of the matter is I don’t. Since I became a Spiritual Life Coach six years ago, and started not only practicing, but actually teaching the Law of Attraction (i.e. The Secret as seen on Oprah) to my clients, I stopped watching and/or listening to anything negative or fear-based. That means no news, no horror movies, no action thrillers, or for that matter no murder mystery novels. All done of course in an effort to keep my thoughts positive and my emotions at a high enough level to attract what I want in my life … love, joy, and abundance; as opposed to attracting less attractive things such as fear, hate or financial ruin. (Remember, The Law of Attraction, as explained by renowned scientists, tells us that like attracts like.)

So today I felt a need to peek, to at the very least create a level of awareness that would enable me to effectively understand where my clients are coming from during these rather tumultuous times. As I perused the headlines and scanned the articles, I tried to do so with a level of detached compassion; taking in enough to get a feel for things, but not so much that I would be drawn into the drama, for as we KNOW it is only an illusion after all.

As is generally the case in my life (actually in all of our lives if we will just listen) I was divinely guided to just the right information to give me a broad overview of our current affairs. I was led to some of the most conservative viewpoints, as well as some of the most radical possibilities. (I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you my belief of the truth definitively swings in the direction of the radical views, but nonetheless I always try to keep an objective perspective.)

After perusing it all, here’s what I know for sure. During volatile times it’s easy to doubt your beliefs and believe your doubts. And since we now understand that the Law of Attraction is in action at ALL times, that’s not a good place to be, especially when the world around us seems to be spinning out of control. So what do we do?

Movies and books, such as The Secret and Louise Hay's "You Can Heal Your Life" have taught us the importance of managing our thoughts and feelings, in order to attract whatever it is we are wanting. Quantum scientists have shown us that the Law of Attraction is a Law of Nature, making it as real to us as say, the Law of Gravity. And since we respect the Law of Gravity, we would never consider jumping off a multi-story building without a parachute or safety net, so why then do we think that we have the "luxury" of negative thinking if we want to attract a joy-filled life?

With this understanding of the Law of Attraction tucked firmly under our hats, we are now all doing our positive affirmations . . . and focusing on positive thinking . . . many of us are even making valiant attempts at better managing our emotions. We're making dream collages and treasure maps, and catching each other when we occasionally slip up and make a silly negative remark. And all of that is wonderful!

So why is it still so hard to master this simple concept and create a blissful existence? Because even with all of that in mind, there's still a missing piece . . . How many of you understand that what is really creating your present reality is what is lingering in your subconscious?

Well that my friends is a FACT! You see the subconscious is operating 24/7, seven days a week. It doesn't go to sleep . . . It doesn't take days off . . . And it doesn't go on vacation, not ever.

Yet understanding this fact is just the tip of the iceberg. Most of us are not aware of what's really going on in our subconscious. We are so focused on our conscious ego mind and what it is thinking that we assume this is the place from which we are creating. Why? Because it's the only place we really know.

We don't understand the subconscious. We don't realize that the place where those pesky limiting beliefs reside is actually the subconscious mind. So we're not sitting around wondering how our subconscious feels today, or what it needs to change, or even trying to get to know it. Most of us have lived the majority of our lives without even a thought about trying to figure out what's going on in there, much less trying to control it.

But if we want to consciously create the life of our dreams, we need to consciously manage our subconscious minds. We need to start digging around in there and do some deep exploration and find those pesky limiting beliefs that have been brought on from years of negative thinking, or genetically programmed instincts, or even behaviors learned from our parents, or better yet, society. We need to look at these beliefs honestly and objectively, yet with a heart filled with compassion. And then release them like helium filled balloons up into the ethers from whence they came. Only when this is accomplished will we be energetically aligned to truly manifest the life of our dreams.

That my friends is the missing piece. One of the very first books I read on this subject was The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy. I read it during a time when I was going through what I commonly refer to as my "dark night of the soul." As I turned the pages and absorbed it's wisdom, I knew at the core of my being that this was TRUTH with a capital "T". The knowledge I gained from this book was the beginning of a major metamorphosis. It spurred me on to greater and greater awakenings that transformed my world from one of hopelessness and despair, to one of purpose and love.

I encourage you to get to know your subconscious well. Understand what it’s thinking, and why. Uncover those limiting beliefs and false illusions that are holding you back and keeping you from your bliss. Only then will you start believing your beliefs and doubting your doubts, and effortlessly attract to you the life of your dreams … even when the world around you seems to be spinning out of control.
