The Infinity Symbol and Learning to Receive Messages from Spirit

When you look at an infinity symbol, what do you see? If you take your index finger and draw an infinity symbol, basically you are taking two wave patterns and CONNECTING them. When your finger goes one direction, the finger draws a loop and then it comes back to a center point and continues to draw another loop. These loops are connected in the center, but they are connected because the line was drawn as one continuous looping line. Two loops are merging into one by being aligned.

What happens when we try to connect with people we know? Often, we send out a message and then they receive it and send back a message. We are connected by being aligned in that moment.

What is required for that to happen?

One person must be sending a message out and the other must be listening. What happens if the other person isn’t listening? The message is not received. What happens if the other person is talking at the same time? The message is not received. What happens if the other person is distracted by thoughts or emotions? The message is not received.

The same holds true for when you are trying to connect to spirit. The line of connection must be open for sending and receiving in both directions. If it isn’t, then the connection will be lost.

What do you notice about really great conversations? Usually not only is just one person sending and one person receiving, but both are doing the sending and receiving at the same time, and it is when they have this open “play” of merging thoughts and ideas that the connection is made.

Now… what happens when one person starts to judge or criticize the other? What if the person is judging themself? There are many things that happen that break the connection. But most often, for people who ask me about receiving messages from spirit, their number one question is, “Am I crazy?” They want to know whether the “things” they are hearing or seeing are real, and that they are not going crazy. The only way they feel at peace is if we do a reading and some specific piece of information comes through that only they know. They are looking for the proof that what is happening, the connection they are having to the other side, is real. They are judging themselves because there is an automatic part of the brain which defaults to judgment and criticism. Scientists have actually found that most people revert to their default mind when their brain is on automatic. So, at any particular moment, when your mind is not engaged, you may revert to this default brain which not only judges and criticizes, but compares and focuses on negative things.

I know from having the experience enough times with people, by telling them things that only they would know, that the connection to the “other side” is very real. The next question they have for me is, “why can’t I get messages when I need them?”

The plain and simple truth is that usually, people are so emotional or distracted or judging what is happening that they are blocking the messages.

IN ORDER TO RECEIVE MESSAGES, YOU MUST BE CLEAR. Your connection needs to not only be on, but it must be clear. If you are emotional, you will not be able to hear. If you are judging, you will not be able to hear. If you are not open, you will not hear.

If you want to receive messages and begin to live a life guided by your spirit, then you have to be open. Now, you don’t have to be open and “on” at all hours. If you are open, you need to not only be discerning, but you must also know that anything and everything will come your way. As you practice, you will start to understand the idea of aligning to exactly what you are wanting to connect to. Think of the infinity symbol and the one line connecting the two loops. It’s like calling up ONE friend and speaking to them only.

With time and practice, you will learn how to become quiet and to let go and open up. And then as you start to receive messages, the next step will be to trust that what is happening is real. Once you become trusting of the messages, you will learn how to be “moved” by spirit and act. This is when the true miracles start to happen.

I am a firm believer in meditation as training in not only learning to quiet your mind but to learn to let go. Your spirit, spirits here on Earth in human physical form, as well as spirits that exist in their energy form in the non-physical realms, all have the ability to connect. The amazing thing is, it is only when we are at our most balanced and calm state that we are able to fully connect in any which way. It makes you wonder if we are supposed to learn to reach that most balanced state as often as possible. The funny thing is, doctors are discovering the many health benefits related to meditation and discovering that calm state. Our physical and energetic bodies perform at their best when they are completely peaceful. So the next time you find yourself having a difficult time in a conversation, ask yourself if you are being open and receptive. Are you listening fully and sending back? Are you judging or criticizing? Are you lost in thought? Every moment that we connect with another is our perfect opportunity to learn how to find a balanced and calm state.
