It’s disturbing to me and yes sad, the amount of people who fail at their home based franchise. Do I think that people set out each day with the goal of failure on their mind? Quite the opposite. But, in general…most people do not set themselves up with the intent, the strategy and the action plan to succeed.
Today, we will take a look at the first of four reasons why people fail not only in their home based franchise, but in almost anything that they do. Will you fall in either one of these categories? If so, what are you going to do about it?
Lack of tenacity and persistence, or as Dan Kennedy calls it..."Stick-to-it-iveness." These are two characters of strength, and are habits that can be formed in any home based franchise, in any career, in any person, but no matter where you look...fewer than 5% take the time to learn and create the habits to become a success which leaves 95% of our population frustrated by where they are in their life to one degree or another.
So what does it take to be in that elite 5%? The top 5% of successful people in the home based franchise industry, or otherwise, stick to their goals. There it is…plain and simple....the top 5% do not give up in the face of defeat or change direction when the mild breeze is starts to turn into full blown head winds.
Those that are in the other 95% waste their time on the get rich quick opportunities and mentality. These are the people that are spending a good portion of their pay check buying their dreams with lottery tickets and wanting to press the Easy Button at Staples thinking that this is their strategy to wealth, freedom, and fortune.
When I was in corporate sales, my first sales manager gave me this quote by Calvin Coolidge and I literally have carried this quote where ever I gone:
"Nothing in this world can take the place of PERSISTENCE. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated failures. Persistence and Determination alone are OMNIPOTENT!"
For examples of persistence I urge you to take a look at the life stories of greats such as Sylvester Stallone, Michael Jordon, Wayne Allyn Root, Thomas Edison, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, or Bruce Springsteen. The list goes on with both famous and non famous people who have persisted against all odds and have ultimately seen their success. Why? Because they did not quit and each one was relentless in their persistence to their dreams.
Is Sylvester Stallone the most talented of actors? Do you agree with everything Oprah or Wayne Allyn Root says? Is Bruce Springsteen your cup of musical tea? You can make your own judgments, but what they are, is successful. What they are (or did!), is living the life of their dreams. None of this would have been possible without tenacity and persistence in their chosen industry.
So what are you doing for the achievement of your life’s goals? Are you sticking to your written goals as if your life depended on it?
Are you going out and obtaining the information and knowledge that you might need to be successful in your home based franchise…at any cost?
After actually spending the money on information and knowledge are you studying this information and becoming the master of your craft?
Are you learning how to become a top producer in your home based franchise?
Are you ignoring the naysayers’ in your life and pursuing your life’s dreams and goals as Sylvester Stallone and many, many others did and continue to do?
Sadly, most people don’t persist in much of anything no matter what the end result might be. Books go unread, home study courses go unopened, and projects are never fully completed.
Odds are heavily in my favor that if I walked into almost any home or any business and I would see various projects not finished, books collecting dust, business plans half done.
Think about this…what is the reward for having good intentions? We all have good intentions; don’t we? How are those good intentions working for you within your company or organization?
How are those good intentions working for you at creating the best home based franchise there is on the market? Guess what, it’s the same as the rewards of unfulfilled talent…neither are so great. Makes you think, doesn’t it? Or at least it should.
There could be hundreds of reasons why people choose to not persist and stick to their dreams and goals, but the reality of it is that those who do persist are the winners.
Winners refuse to be distracted from their goals and dreams. They are Willing AND Able to do anything that will allow them to reach their goals and their dreams. They go out and do what is necessary to win…whether it is taking course after course, buying educational information, or learning new and innovative ways of accomplishing their ultimate goals.
Most times taking massive action is uncomfortable and can be met with challenges and obstacles and yes even temporary defeat, but it is the winners that have their blinders on, that relentlessly persist, that come out the champions of their dreams and their goals.
Think hard...do you have this type of tenacity, persistence and "Stick-to-it-iveness" to succeed in your home based franchise, or in anything else in life?
