Here are some things to be aware of as you begin to look at homes in your local market.
Use the Elements
One of the things you want to remember about Feng Shui is that this is a practice of balance. You will want to find ways to bring balance into your life and balance into your home. One of the ways to do this is to ensure that all of the elements are being represented either in the home or around the home. The five elements include wood, water, metal, earth, and fire. Try to make sure that all of these elements are included in the property or that they can be easily incorporated. For example, the home’s frame might be made with wood and metal and the foundation is in the earth, but if you can find a way to include water in the property as well as to add a chimney, then you will have all of the elements represented.
Watch Where the House is Located
Location, location, location – that’s a common motto among real estate agents, and with good reason. You will want to make sure that the location of your home is positive in terms of energy, according to Feng Shui. For example, you would not want to buy a home that is in a court (or cul-de-sac) or that is at the end of a dead end street. These two positions relate to energy being stuck and that will affect the inhabitants of the home. While you might be able to add Feng Shui adjustments within the home, those will have a hard time ‘fighting’ against the negative energy of the position of the home. Try to find a home that is in an open location, without any energy disruptions.
Things You Can Change
Landscaping is another consideration when buying a home, though it’s pretty easy to change this once you move in. For example, you will want to make sure there are no trees or bushes that are blocking the view of the home from the street. When the house is obstructed, it is thought that the energy from outside and from inside the house can not flow freely. Of course, once you move in, you could simply get rid of the plants that are causing the trouble. In addition, you can include brighter colors and use a bagua to help you boost the Feng Shui energy of the house.
Though no house is ever perfect, there are many Feng Shui tips to keep in mind as you shop and after you move in. The energy of your house matters since all of the energy will surround yourself and your family as you live your daily lives.
