It's so incredibly easy to become overwhelmed by everything that we have to get done in any given day. Apart from our work itself, we are bombarded with emails, phone calls and smses that demand our attention. It's as if we have to juggle 10 plates at the same time and when we get the phone call that our child is sick
One of the questions I get asked most frequently, in several different variations is about which martial art an individual should study. Generally which martial art, and more importantly which school to choose are fundamental decisions someone should make. My answer is usually something along ...
The Little Engine That Could “The Little Engine That Could.” is one of those marvelous children’s stories that stays with you. I’m 74 years old and still, to this today, when faced with difficulties, I often find myself remembering a picture of the little engine chugging down the mountain saying, “I knew I could, I knew I could.” The story first appeared in 1930. There have been many versions through the 80 years.
The following scenarios are examples of what some parents are in the habit of saying to thier children: “Do as I say or you’ll get a spanking.” “Be quiet or I’ll smack you.” “If you bring home another F, I’ll pull out the paddle.” “Say you’re sorry, young man, or I’ll have you scrub the ...
Who is in control of you? Well, if you're not accepting responsibility for your life or what happens in it, it isn't you! In order for you to really create the life you want, then you have to accept responsibility for everything that happens in it. If you accept responsibility for something and want to change it, then your mind will start developing a plan of action. So if you want your significant other to show you more love and appreciation, then accept responsibility for making this happen and you will then make the necessary changes to get more love and appreciation.
We all face difficult conversations in the workplace: criticism from our boss, a conflict with a client, a co-worker we find irritating, a subordinate who submits incomplete work -- all might entail a conversation we do not look forward to having. When we anticipate that an interaction might be complicated, there are steps we can take to engage with the other person in ways that are more likely to be satisfying. Handling Difficult Conversations We might think about this in three stages: preparing for the conversation, having it, and then learning from it afterward.
Have you ever wondered how people get what they want? I mean people who consistently get what they want, you know the ones that others call lucky or fortunate or think that they have some unfair advantage over others. Whatever others think, I am sure you are wondering how they can do this. I'll give you a hint: "The first step to getting what you want out of life is this: decide what you want." - Ben Stein To be truly happy and appreciative of what you get out of life, then you need to know what you want.
What is perfection? Have you ever researched its meaning? For a word that creates such a challenge for people and can ruin lives, it isn’t very perfect! Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia defines it as, “broadly, a state of completeness and flawlessness.” It then goes on to discuss its earliest known definition, which comes from Aristotle and his book Delta of the Metaphysics. Aristotle describes it in “three shades of one meaning:” 1)Which is complete- which contains all the requisite parts; 2)Which is good that nothing of the kind could be better; 3)Which has attained its purpose

A relationship should be based on equality. In relationship without equality one partner tries to control the other. Many fall into the trap of believing that their partner loves them because she or he says so. They become blind to the fact that their partner controls them through jealousy, ...
MOST LIKELY, your first reaction to hearing this lie is, “Boy, do I know someone who believes that!” If we are being honest with ourselves, though, we all have a knee-jerk reaction to find the jerk “out there” who’s responsible for any given problem before a finger can possibly be pointed at ourselves. We automatically look outward for the source of the problem when it comes to assigning blame.
This article is taken from my recently published book Earth Wisdom http://www.wholelifegym.com/spiritual_books.htmnn1. Do not act in order to receive a payoff.nnThis is what is causing much of our discomfort as individuals and a society. As soon as you act with the purpose of receiving something, you have removed love from the act. The goal is to act as if all your needs are met, then all your thinking and behavior comes from a different perspective. You also find that you ac
Socio-economic issues and drug use are linked in a number of ways, but probably not in all the ways that most people would think based upon media concerning drug use. Whatever the causes may be, it's clear that addiction is a clinical disease that can affect any one at any time â regardless of race, economic standing or social background. However, there are a set of specific socio-economic circumstances that make people more susceptible to experiment with and eventually bec

SEX WITH YOUR EX: SHOULD YOU? When Is Sleeping with a Former Partner a Bad Idea? Copyright © 2009 By: John D. Moore www.mychicagotherapist.com Six months ago, you discovered that the “love of your life” was sleeping around with others, causing you to dump the jerk like yesterday’s trash. Perhaps something else happened, such as the sudden realization that you were taking on massive debt due to your ex’s financial irresponsibility. Or maybe you decided to kick the scoundrel to the curb because the person was abusive.
For thousands of years, alcohol has been steeped in mystery and symbolism, eventually working its way into the very fabric of cults and early religions. One of the oldest methods of purposefully altering a person's conscious state, consumption of alcohol as a means of enlightenment, ceremony or entertainment has been a part of human culture for as long as history has been recorded, and possibly longer than that. But as societies developed over time and religions grew, alcohol
Addiction and alcoholism in a marriage is one of the most destructive forces a relationship can endure. This is especially true if only one partner has a problem. And while relationships based upon drug use do exist â such as those often depicted in Hollywood â they generally end badly for both parties. Addiction or alcoholism can occur before or after a marriage, but whatever the case may be the marriage is almost certainly doomed to fail unless the addicted individual g
