Add Tracking Code To WordPress Site.

There are a number of ways to install tracking on websites but as you have a WordPress site we are going to add the tracking code to the header.php file of your WordPress theme. This is very easy to do so don’t worry.

(function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i[‘GoogleAnalyticsObject’]=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
(i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
ms.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
})(window,document,’script’,’https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js‘,’ga’);
ga(‘create’, ‘UA-7923000-1’, ‘auto’);
ga(‘send’, ‘pageview’);

We are going to open the header.php file and paste this code between the opening and closed head tags .choose your choise of tracking code.
.choose your choise of tracking code.
Code Here
.

Login into your WordPress dashboard and on the left-hand navigation select Appearance/Editor as shown in the image below.

Now you look to the right-hand side and select the Theme header.

When it opens you are looking for the opening head tag or the closing head tag so you can paste your tracking code somewhere between them. They have been highlighted in this excerpt of a header.php file. Now simply save the change and test.

<?php
/**
* The Header for our theme.
*
* Displays all of the section and everything up till
*
* @package Catch Themes
* @subpackage Catch Box
* @since Catch Box 1.0
*/
?>
