According to a spokesman, Sheeran’s latest album has brought streaming records on Spotify during its launch in March. It had a big bang effect on the sales. Other bestselling albums were Linking Park’s album released prior to Chester Bennington’s suicide and Bruno Mars’s “24K Magic”.
Warner Music has crossed the £1bn line
The boost was 20% more in sales compared to the last quarter. Warner Music reached and passed for the first time the $1bn annual streaming revenue mark.

Universal Music and Sony have already made new licensing deals with Spotify and now the third giant in the music industry has joined them. The deal allows labels more flexibility on albums available, especially for premium users, while Spotify receives a reduction on royalties’ payments. Warner Music’s chief executive also declared that the company desires to create a fair and healthy competitive ecosystem and that the key is to collaborate and create differences in subscriptions and ad-supported models.

The company also reported that revenues of its recorded and music publishing operations have rose to 13 % making 2017 the biggest in the last 14 years. The company also signed a licensing contract with YouTube.
Divide helped increase UK music sales by 11% in the first half of the year. All 16 songs made Top 20 making the album another best seller.
