• If the burglar has already made his way into your bed room and taken you unawares you should pretend to be sleeping. Do not risk any confrontation with him because you are unarmed. • Raise noise in your room. Beat the doors with something that creates noise and shout out for the police. The noise may scare away the intruder.
• Open your window to create an escape route in case the burglar makes his way into your room even through the barricade.
• Stay put inside your room till the police arrives and knocks at your door.
• Ask the police to thoroughly check all the possible hiding places in your house such as the attic/loft and the basement. Quite possibly the intruder may still be hiding there till he is found by one of the policemen.
