“Find a need and fill it”, Ruth Stafford Peale
That quote really sums up and represents the powerful feminine Emotional Intelligence, Intuition and Instinct that women possess and should be leading with, in their business and personal roles. We are really starting to understand just how powerful and important these qualities are and how we can use them to launch, transition and change.
If you look at the women who are in prominent positions at some of the top companies and corporations today, they all lead with Feminine Leadership and their EQ, Emotional Intelligence. In their book Brain Sex, The Real Difference between Men and Women by Ann Moir- PHD and David Jessel, they state: “The sexes are different because their brains are different. The brain is differently constructed in men and in women; it processes information in a different way, which results in different perceptions, priorities and behavior.”
Women possess this amazing EQ, emotional intelligence.
Fortune Magazine’s Top 3 Most Powerful Women of 2006-7 were Indira Nooyi, chairman of Pepsico, Ann Mulcahy, chairman and CEO of Zerox and Meg Whitman, President and CEO of Ebay, who all exemplify this. They have all impacted their companies bottom line and corporate cultures by leading with feminine qualities. You do not have to be them, simply be you!
So who is the businesswoman of today?
The percent of women in education, hospitality, media, professional services and medical are now pacing almost 60-40% ahead of men. Women are increasingly emerging in leadership capacities such as engineering, architecture and science.
According to the Center for Women’s Business Research:
10.4 million businesses are owned by women (50% or more)
Women employ 12.8 million people
Women owned businesses account for 1.9 trillion in sales
Women owned business are growing 2 to 1 over all other firms
As you think about the women you know who are in your business communities,
I am sure you are identifying some pretty amazing ones, yes?
The businesswoman of today that I have had the privilege of having in my Women’s Empowerment Series workshops are extraordinary in so many ways. Many may not be famous or visible. Many of them simply prefer to operate ‘under the radar’.
So who is the businesswoman of today?
They are doers, connectors, catalysts and agents of change. They are visionaries, making a huge difference, relentless in their passion for what they do. They are mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, citizens, caretakers. They are triumphing over adversities, emerging stronger, learning to be independent, persevering and finding their purpose.
The time for women has certainly been growing since Susan B Anthony, and we thank the women who blazed the trail before us: but there is not a better opportune time than now, when women’s leadership is needed and emerging as the true future of business, community and family.
So, ladies celebrate your feminine qualities and gifts, use them to heal and lead, claim your place and honor your role.
Now is the time to GLOW. Share your glow, seek to become inspired by others’ glow, borrow someone else’s when yours dims.
Give to others
Lead with passion
Our time to flourish
Women united in purpose
The businesswoman of today is you!
Bravo ladies
and
Forge on!
