Everyone wants their health to be good but not everyone has enough time to get in proper work outs and make sure this is possible. This is one of the reasons that the ten thousand step method has become famous. The idea is that you take at least ten thousand steps each day (walking) and that can help you get very healthy and reduce the time that is required for exercise. Walking is a great, low impact, exercise. How often have you heard "if he'd only taken a walk around the block now and then?"

Obviously, it won't be simple to take ten thousand steps everyday. That's a lot of steps to take! The good news is that you are already likely taking ten thousand steps everyday without realizing it. All you need to do is figure out how to add in a couple or few thousand additional steps to succeed in this goal. So how do you do that without feeling like you're spending half of your morning walking around?

Increasing your step count can be done easily employing these obvious methods. One classic example of this is hiking the stairs instead of taking an elevator or escalator. When you go to the store or the mall park further from the entrance. To further this idea, you could also remain parked in one spot and walk your shopping bags out to the car as you accumulate them-instead of carting them all over the shopping center as you run your errands. Taking public transit can also increase your step count as you have to walk to your bus or train stop and then back home instead of just walking to your car. The most obvious way to do it, of course, is to just take a brief walk each day.

You could also increase the amount of steps you take by using some less than apparent methods. Write your grocery grocery list in a different arrangement. Lots of people organize their lists based on the aisles of their stores. Organize your list in categories such as dairy, meat, produce, snacks, etc. Then get each item in the order that it is detailed on your list. Sure you'll end up running back and forth through the store however it can be great for taking more steps every day. Instead of having a mail box in your door or attached to your home, mount it on a post close to the curb. This will add at least several dozen steps to your count everyday as you walk from your door to the box and back.

There are a lot of ways to build your own step count. The more used to the idea of 10,000 steps you get the easier it's going to be for you to figure out how to meet your goal. Thankfully, every step you take--whether it's walking to the refrigerator or going for walks on a treadmill, counts toward your end step count goal. Try to have fun with your project!
