Most of us have our share of faults, flaws and imperfections, but beyond surgery, there is no magic way to facial perfection. However, it is possible to camouflage the flaws nature has given you, by carefully plotting and scheming with makeup, and with honesty. To do this you must look your face straight in the eye, analyse it and take note of not only your imperfections but your beautiful features too.

All you have to do is simply paint, shade or colour away your imperfections. Here are 16 ways to make corrections wherever your flaws lie:

  1. To lift heavy, droopy eyelids: apply dark shading in the contour creases, grey or brown kohl is ideal. Then use a fine brush to smudge an arc that widens slightly at the outer corner.
  2. To enlarge the eyes: apply a pale, creamy highlighter shadow from the eyebrow, starting fairly near the nose and winging out towards the temple. Thicken the shape as you go.
  3. To "throw out" the eyes: put a dab of highlighter shadow just between the bridge of the nose and the inner corner of the eyebrow.
  4. To cover bulges under the eyes: use foundation a shade darker than the one you're wearing overall, and brush it precisely on to the "bag."
  5. To cover dark rings below the eyes: use a concealer stick one shade lighter than your foundation.
  6. To slim the nose: put a dark foundation all the way down either side fading out at the tip.
  7. To make the nose look straighter: put a light-coloured line all the way down the centre of the nose, fading out at the tip. Use foundation for this disguise.
  8. To shorten the nose: put dark foundation under the actual tip not just on the end of the nose.
  9. To take away a double chin: use dark shadow on both sides of the lower face, leaving out the actual chin.
  10. To minimize a high forehead: brush on dark shader right along the top of the brow, up to the hairline.
  11. To "plump up" thin lips: outline them just outside the natural lip line. Fill them in with a lighter shade lipstick.
  12. To slim down full lips: colour them just within natural lip line; don't use lip liner though, that would be too obvious.
  13. To disguise nose-to-mouth lines: use a lighter foundation to fill in the groove.
  14. To slim down plump cheeks: apply dark shader from ear lobes, under cheekbones and down past the sides of the mouth.
  15. To soften a square jaw: apply shader from midway between ear lobes and chin all the way round in a half-moon shape.
  16. And to slim the chin: apply highlighter in little "foot sole" shapes on either side of the chin.
