There are not many areas in life where age difference plays such a pivotal role. The truth is whatever friends or family think there’s often little anyone can say or do to dissuade a determined pair of daters from getting together, that said for some reason well meaning people always seem able to pass a quick snide comment as soon as an opportunity arises, the first thing you should be asking yourself if you find yourself surrounded by overly critical people in your life is why? You are either behaving in a manor worthy of criticism or they like the sound of their own moaning, whinny voices. One thing’s for sure something needs to change; you get better at life or get better people in your life. That‘s the intro out of the way now down to why men choose to date older women, it must be noted that not all men choose older women but society is seeing a definite shift toward older women and by definition that means by younger men so I guess it could apply to any age group from slight differences in age right up to ‘oh I’ve never met your son’ type comments if you bump into acquaintances when you’re out and about together. The older woman knows what she wants from life and how to get it and gets it without all the drama that can be associated with a less mature partner, they’re generally more financially and emotionally stable, I say generally as there are always exceptions to the rule but there’s nothing like a little life experience to mellow out even the most ardent stress head or sponger. Men know this and being lazy tend to go for the easiest option available, once he’s got the mindset to be able to assess the qualities of a women based on more than peer group approval then aligning with the life experience of an older woman makes perfect sense. Older women are sexier, I’m not trying to be disparaging to younger females and while youthful partners are not without their charms older women were once younger women and like riding a bike sexiness is not something you forget, you might fall off now again but seduction is a skill that once honed can be deployed with devastating effectiveness, in a mans mind this translates to, at the very least, the expectation of an encounter, this alone can be enough fuel to sustain a mans desire for years, yes men really can be that simple. The man might have issues, there’s no getting away from the fact that some men might choose to be with an older women due to their own personal issues, whether it’s connected to their own esteem or perhaps it‘s more of an Oedipus inspired complexity. These types of co dependent relationships, which in some cases last years, are not an ideal model to bank on for future happiness, as all you end up doing is facilitating negative behaviors.
