Are you finding it increasingly harder to see results in the gym? Is your motivation lacking? If so then this articles for you. When we first start training we all have dreams of achieving a strong looking muscular physique. This is what drives us on to train hard and make it into the gym for every single workout no matter how busy our daily schedules are.

Unfortunately for a lot of people, this feeling gradually fades away overtime leading many of us to quit. A month or two later we get the urge back to start training again but were taken right back to square one. Our body’s are unconditioned and lack any noticeable signs of muscle mass. Here are 3 ways you can kick start your training to help you stay motivated and be more consistent.

Switch up Your Routine

Becoming accustomed to a particular routine week in week out can be bad for progress. By all means never try to fix something that is not broken. If you are seeing progress and results from your current routine then you should continue doing it. What a lot of people do not do however is switch their routines up when progress is no longer occurring on a regular basis.

Instead they believe they have the ideal routine all laid out and by changing it is not going to have any effect on their training or results. This could not be further from the truth. Yes you may have a routine that incorporates the best compound exercises and rep ranges for muscle growth but you need to remember that this will not work forever.

The body gets use to performing the same movements and does not see a reason to grow anymore. Whether you are looking to gain muscle or burn fat always add variety to your routine. Here’s how you do it.

Switch the exercise order up. If you perform flat bench first in your chest workouts replace it with incline or decline and perform your flat bench exercise second. Take some weight off the bar and go for more reps focusing more on the contraction of your muscles and really feeling the movement.

Substitute one exercise out for another one. Start this new exercise with less weight so you can get use to the movement and add on more weight each week. If you are feeling completely drained from your training and are no longer enjoying it or have the motivation to push yourself, take a complete week off and return lifting lighter weights with perfect form for a few weeks.

In these few weeks do not concern yourself with lifting heavy weights or putting pressure on yourself to improve. Get your body and your mind back into the swing of things and prepare yourself for the progress you are about to make in the following weeks with a new routine and fresh mind set.

Keep a Training Log and Set Some Goals

Keeping a training log is a great way to jot down your results and achievements in the gym and refer back to them when times get tough. Keeping track of progress by writing it down is so much more powerful than keeping track of it in your head and will help you build muscle more efficiently.

When you can refer back to previous sessions and see how far you have come, you won’t want to quit! Keeping a training log will also motivate you to push yourself harder in the gym. You will be able to see how many reps you lifted for a particular exercise the previous week and can set out to beat it this week. When you go into the gym with the mind set to better yourself and improve you are far more likely to do it.

Setting goals is also great for kick-starting your training and focusing your mind towards something you want to achieve. Goals are powerful. By setting yourself a goal you are creating a reason to constantly walk into the gym and give it 100% no matter how tired you are. You are there because you are working towards a set goal. Goals will drive you on in your training and give you a reason to keep returning to the gym!

Be Inspired By Others

Let yourself be inspired by the guy who has a great physique in your gym. Be inspired by monitoring what professional bodybuilders go through day in day out just to stay on top of their game and achieve the best built physique in the world. Let other people sacrifices inspire you.

People that inspire you are often people that do something you have an interest in. The difference between people like this and yourself are that these people are willing to do the things your not. They are willing to make sacrifices to get to where they want to be and are not afraid of doing so. They are not afraid of what people may think nor are they afraid of how tough it may be.

Being inspired by others should help you in your training. It should help you believe that anything is possible if only you can put your mind to it. Keep working hard in the gym and you will get to where you want to be. Every successful person that has got to where they are now are faced with the exact same feelings as all of us.

If we are talking about bodybuilders and athletes then all of those experience the same feeling of not wanting to go the gym some days. The feeling of straying from their diets because it’s too much effort to maintain this kind of lifestyle. The feeling of skipping morning cardio because early mornings are too hard.

The truth is, it’s not hard at all. It’s just getting use to the habit and making fitness or bodybuilding a part of your life. Changing habits can be hard but if others can do it then so can you. Hang in there and find a reason you want to train and maintain a healthy and strong physique.
