3 Ways Beginners can do Keyword Research in Google
Written by Sabrina C Anderson
Search Engine Optimization is the best thing you can master as a website owner or blogger. Using SEO tactics like keyword research will bring traffic to your web pages while you are utilizing other methods for marketing. If you’ve ever wondered how you can show up in the first few pages of Google search results than using keyword research can become your best friend. Keep in mind there is no magic trick to always landing first on the search results but with these simple tips you will soon see traffic coming your way.
1.Before you begin go ahead and define your niche keywords. For example if you are in the business of dog grooming, then make a list of all the words your potential customer would use to find you.
Words like “dog groomer” “pet salon” or even “dog grooming +the city you live in”
Go ahead on over to Google and search for the very words you just created. Look closely in the bar below as you type in the words of your niche. You should see other sample keywords show up for you to select as a choice. Here the search engine has already optimized the most highly searched for phrases when you type in your keywords. Take note of those phrases because that is what people are typing in when they are looking for businesses or information related to your niche. You should create content using these keywords in your blog posts, titles, and body.
2.You can type in a keyword related to your niche scroll down all the way to the bottom and again see a list of phrases that people are typing into Google when they are looking for information or businesses that supply what you create.
3.Utilize Google Keyword Search Tool for Ad words. Using this tool will show you exactly how popular or not your chosen keywords are on Google. If you type in dog groomer, below you will see a list of results showing you global monthly searches and local monthly searches. You’ll see which words are low, medium or highly competitive and can adjust your strategy accordingly. This tool is used if you want to set up ad words but can equally function for basic SEO keyword research.
What you want to do next is either insert those keywords on your blog post titles, body and webpages so that someone searching for the content you provide will show up in the Google search result pages. Unfortunately there is no magic trick to being the first result or on the first page. The only time you should ever pay for a service related to SEO is if you happen to hire someone to take care of your SEO tasks for you or purchase software that will supply you with keywords. But with tips like this, I don’t see why you would pay when Google gives you all of this for free.
Some things you may want to avoid:
1.Over using the keywords in your text. This method is sometimes used to trick the search engine into believing that your content is rich. When in fact, doing this can cause you to be looked over because your content seems “spammy”. Always produce good sound content. Not only will this help you in SEO but you want your customers returning to you for more information about what you have to offer.
2.Before you do anything listed here, make sure you have submitted your website to all of the search engines like Google, yahoo, Bing or MSN.
