Being in a relationship is both a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing because you get to have that constant companion, drag-along buddy, confidant, advisor, sometimes even editor, all in one person. It is a curse because disagreements can cause so much pain, disappointment and anger. But the thing is no matter what happens, it is still that person who can best make you happy. So how do you keep a relationship as smooth-sailing as possible? Read these tips that we have based from personal experience: Don’t you dare break promises without notice It is never comforting to be told that promises are made to be broken. Because when somebody commits to you, you keep their word for it. True enough, hearing this overused argument would not help make you feel better. It only makes you feel worse. It tells you that there is no one else to be blamed except you. Keep your promises, folks. Even if it sounds like a routine, for instance promising to call your partner once you get back home. They still matter. They can still trigger big fights. And just in case you feel like you would not make it, inform beforehand. Let them know that your phone is running out of battery, and that you might not get to accept their calls. They will appreciate your effort. The “You don’t want them hurt” excuse does not help Since we are already talking about promises, it is best that we also discuss feelings and excuses. When you lie to your partner, regardless the gravity and the situation, it still boils down to being untrue. It still would hurt. The worst part, which you probably have already seen in films is when you, yourself discovers the truth. You may have reasons which you deem valid. Well, if you think that they are for good, then the more you should let your partner know about it. And even if it sounds like bad news, tell them, as well. Who knows, your partner may help solve the problem. If you lost your job, for example, sharing the situation with your partner can help reduce your stress. Remember, it is through rough times like this, that you two get to test the strength of your relationship. Weather the storm together. It is better than carrying the burden alone. And please, do away with the excuse that you don’t want them hurt. Because eventually, it will, no matter how hard you keep the situation to yourself. Don’t just let issues sleep. Discuss them. There are those people who would rather not talk about a problem, and just forget about it. And there are also those who want to get issue settled, once and for all. The danger about letting disagreements just pass by is that you get used to it. In some cases, it could mean letting your partner abuse you. It also indirectly sends the message that you are cool with it, when in fact you are not. Let your partner know that you feel bad about him missing significant dates. And do not talk about it when you are angry. Let the anger subside first, so you can talk it out and come up with a solution, together. You will not be able to fix the problem if you are both shouting, emphasizing each other’s faults. Talking can make your relationship healthier as you learn to compromise. For better or worse Remember you are partners, for better or worse. It is not like you can leave just that once you find something negative with that person. Admit it or not, you too, have faults. You can settle issues only if you let your guard down, and talk about it.

The idea of making yourself more desirable by making yourself less available doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about it. After all, Juliet would have plunged a premature dagger into the heart of her romance with Romeo if she hid in her room rather than go out on her balcony. The end of Sleepless in Seattle shifts from "awww" to "aw, no" if one of the two main characters skips the trip to the Empire State Building. As these examples from fiction show, making yourself
