When dealing with your customers, there should be one simple rule: everyone is VIP. Here are a few tips you might want to consider when dealing with your most valued customers:

1. Identify and sift through your target market. Sales is never about selling to everyone on the block. You need to target the market your product was made for and sift through the leads to gain high-quality clients. Why? Because selling to everyone is time consuming.

2. Build customer relationship. Knowing how to build rapport is also knowing when to keep quiet and listen. In as much as you would like your customer to know about the product, you will need to gain insight from them as well. That brings us to our next point.

3. Learn your customer’s needs. Know what your customer needs and wants and see how your product can be applicable. Does it answer the needs and concerns of your customer and how can you innovate the script to deliver what they want to hear. Remember, knowing what your customer needs is doing your homework and best of all; it is showing them that you care. If you are an authority in what you do, show them that there is no other company they should turn to.

4. Offer the right service / product. Again, sifting through the market means offering your product to the right customers. In the same light, if you have a variety of products, make sure you customize your sales pitch to the specific needs of your customer. There is nothing quite like a ready-made and well thought of solution.

5. Engage them in continuous product and service improvement. Being an authority in the industry is being able to show them that you’re ahead of the trend and that you seek to further improve your services for them. Keep them updated through a newsletter and let them know how well you are doing for them.

Remember, your customers are your biggest asset and you need to know how to take of them when executing sales. Keep them close to you and your small business will certainly grow. There’s nothing better than a good review and positive feedback.
