Remember then if the symptoms exceed 30 days, then you are already suffering from a chronic sinus related infection. There are several factors and number of irritants that can cause sinusitis such as fungus, poor air quality, dehydration, hormones, bacteria and allergies. It is important for you to first work out on what is causing your symptoms to cure the condition and to prevent the recurrence of the infection. If you already know the root of the problem, then you can start treating sinus infections by applying the appropriate treatment. There are various home remedies that can help you get a relief from the symptoms, but if your sinusitis comes with fever or headaches, then it is best for you to consult your physician first. Here are some tips on how you can start treating sinus infection using home remedies: 1. Eucalyptus - place the oil in a bowl of warm water and then place the bowl on your lap. Lean over the bowl with a towel covering your head and start inhaling the steam. Other oils than can be used include tea tree, lavender and sandalwood. 2. Tea tree - this herbal medicine can be very helpful when treating sinus infections due to bacteria since it has powerful antibacterial properties and is a good relief from common cold as well. 3. Neti pot or nasal spray - using either of this and a warm salt water solution can be helpful in rinsing your nasal passages. Remember to only do this if the symptoms are severe. 4. Air humidifier - dry air can also be a cause of sinus infection and so it is important to keep the temperature humid and maintain water vapors in the air. 5. If your infection or sinusitis is due to dehydration, water therapy can be of best help. Make sure to consume at least 8 to 10 glasses of water per day to eliminate the infection or the sinusitis. As mentioned above, if you think your symptoms are severe and that it will not go away using these home remedies, you may check with your physician to know other ways of treating sinus infection , as it may sometimes require surgery for total elimination.
