5 Growth Hacks for a Big Twitter Boost for More Followers

Your new best friend is Twitter Advanced search

If you are serious about your Twitter growth, Twitter Advanced search is going to be the tool that you use, and learn to use better, in order to truly take advantage of Twitter. Too many businesses use Twitter like a user - reacting to stories passively and accepting whatever users come their way. Twitter Advanced search is going to help you find people who are talking to your competitors, who are within certain regions, who have particular interests marked by keywords, and a number of other in depth pieces of information. This Mashable article will be able to flesh it out further than I can here in this article, be sure to read it and truly understand Twitter Advanced search.

Take Twitter into the ‘real world’

While Twitter is the king of rapid online communication, it is also the king of getting people to connect. The easiest way to do this is at conferences and meetings that are relevant to your niche, genre, or industry. Most good conferences now have a hashtag associated with them. These are used to connect people who are at the conference, and who want to be at the conference. You can either participate by being there and using the hashtags, owhich is more valuable, or at home joining in. Both options will bring you some connections, and they may also teach you something about new innovations in your industry. Check out the popular E3 hashtag as an example.

A real Twitter boost comes from your social proof

There are two main types of social proof on Twitter: 1. The type that is formed immediately upon viewing the follower number an account hasrn2.The type that forms over time as users get to know how you handle them The first type is why Twitter follower services are popular as they quickly boost that small aspect of social proof. No one wants to follow an account with under 20 fans. The second type of social proof looks at your long term interaction with followers. Are you helpful, or do you ignore them? Are they active in your discussion, or do they ignore you? Both types of social proof are important if you want to succeed.

Crowd marketing may be your biggest move

Crowd marketing looks at people know as either brand evangelists, or crowd influencers. These crowd influencers are the people in your industry that people listen to. They have large followings on Twitter, lots of interaction (especially when it comes to click-through rates) and are champions of social proof. Being able to tap into their social proof can help unlock more credibility for your account and efforts. Start by looking for accounts with large followers numbers that are relevant to your industry. It doesn’t have to be a direct link. A guy who tweets about hockey scores is relevant to someone who is selling hockey jerseys. A guy who tweets about hockey scores is not so relevant to someone who sells cellphone parts. Sure, some of his followers may have cellphones, but this is not the way to approach your crowd influencer plan.

Have a definite plan for your Promoted Tweets

Don’t just start throwing money at Promoted tweets and expect it to pay off. You have to share the right type of content or users will resent your efforts, rather than embrace them.

I block every promoted tweet on my timeline. Is nothing sacred? Must you take twitter too?

The best type of content for promoted tweets is the type of content that everyone likes to see in their Timeline: > Giveawaysrn> Promotionsrn> Specialsrn> Exclusive content If you’re sending anything less than this, it had better be good. People think of their Twitter Timeline as a place that should only have content in it which they have chosen, Twitter got its start with this manually curated content streams, and your Promoted tweet imposes upon this.
