When you ride a motorcycle or any other two-wheeler for that matter, one thing that you must always invest in as a motorcycle helmet. This is one of those ubiquitous safety equipment that you simply cannot miss because in addition to protecting you against penalties, wearing a helmet also keeps you safe in the event of an accident. While many people do not even consider wearing even one helmet, we are pushing the agenda of every motorcycle rider having two helmets! Here are 5 reasons that you would find compelling to have multiple helmets.

One helmet does not meet all needs

Are you using the same helmet for long distance rides that you use for your daily commutes? While it is perfectly OK to do that you cannot expect the maximum number of features from a commuter helmet for your long-distance road trips because those are specifically made to provide additional comfort and have other features such as Bluetooth connectivity to take calls without any break and to listen to music to stay entertained. It is a perfectly good idea to have multiple helmets for different riding needs. For example, you can have a full-face helmet for long distance trips and an open face helmet or a modular helmet for your daily office commutes. Modern motorcycle helmets do not cost a lot of money and in fact you can get a branded helmet for the price of a couple of cups of coffee at an upscale restaurant these days!

Always have a backup helmet

You never know when you might need the backup helmet. In many cases motorcycle riders are not allowed to carry their helmets inside offices are schools and, in that case, you might have to place the helmet on the motorcycle itself. While there are techniques to keep the helmet locked on the bike it isn’t completely fool-proof which means there's always a risk of the helmet getting stolen. If that happens, you will suddenly be out of a helmet, which will attract penalties and expose you to the risk of an accident. But if you have a backup helmet all of these mitigates itself and you get enough time to purchase another primary helmet.

Keep the pillion covered

There may be times when somebody asks for a lift and you have to decline because you do not have an additional helmet for that person. A good idea to make it possible to have a pillion rider with you is to keep an additional helmet in the side bag or the top box So that there is a helmet always present with you for that special pillion rider!

Different helmets for different seasons

A full-face helmet is usually considered the safest option of all types of helmet available in the market today but there is also a problem that many riders face with using a full-face helmet which is lack of proper airflow. All modern full-face helmets do come with dynamic ventilation systems, but it wouldn’t keep you as cool as an open face helmet would, which means you can easily have two helmets for different seasons, one for summer, and one for the cold season.

Help someone in your family

Using someone else’s helmet is usually not recommended, but in a pinch, you can help somebody in your family with your backup helmet so that they can continue to ride safely and without attracting the police for road law violation penalties!
