"5 Secrets To Using Fashion to Empower Your Personality: What Has Fashion Got to Do with Empowerment?"
Written by Asma Fayyad
Imagine that you can wear anything and everything in your wardrobe. In other words imagine having a wardrobe full of clothes and accessories that you would wear no matter what the occasion.
It is possible and doable. I have that wardrobe, many of my clients have that and it is not difficult.
Allow me to first explain that fashion is a way of self expression and according to Wikipedia [the term "fashion" usually applies to a prevailing mode of expression, but quite often applies to a personal mode of expression.
The terms "fashionable" and "unfashionable" are employed to describe whether someone or something fits in with the current popular mode of expression.
The term "fashion" is frequently used in a positive sense, as a synonym for glamour and style. In this sense, fashions are a sort of communal art, through which a culture examines its notions of beauty and goodness.
The term "fashion" is also sometimes used in a negative sense, as a synonym for fads, trends, and materliasm]
Now back to you as a woman, you need to be aware that fashion designers and their industry express themselves through what is marketable. They use the media of all its glory to spread the word about their work which they like to call art.
Always remember, marketable fashion is an expression of fashion designers and the designers subject their fashion creativity to their own mind and taste and also to what is known as market and consumer psychology. Which means that all that you see around you may not represent your taste or your mind!
Yet, we all get influenced by our peers and by the media reviews and the glamorous images we see in the magazines.
Imagine that Nicole Kidman received a million dollars to pose for Chanel for 4 minutes (sorry I can't quote the source of this information, I heard it from a TV program). The photo shot was impressive and I am sure many of you gals out there were impressed.
Ok, so fashion influence and designer taste, where is this leading me, some of you might ask?
How do you use what is in fashion to empower your image?
1- Know your personal colors: this alone will cut down on your clothing budget and space, make up and accessories shopping budget to more than a half.
2- Know your body, buy only what looks flattering on your body. And believe me you won’t know what is flattering by asking your friends, they will tell you what they think you want to hear. Learn what lines and designs work with your less than perfect body features. Just like the rest of us women, less than perfect!
3- Find your fashion personality by dwelling into your inner self, and ask yourself repeatedly while shopping (is this me?), there is nothing wrong with you, and you need not be someone else to impress anyone else. You need not be impressed either, be your own friend. Being different is not always comfortable.
4- Choose what is appropriate for the occasion, if you are partying formally and you have a natural personality skip the jeans and the T shirt and wear a naturally fabricated long dress instead.
5- Be considerate of other people, being yourself doesn’t have to offend others. It also doesn’t have to be attention grabbing, being different is different from being crazy or foolish.
Be sure that every color, dot, shape, line and design on your body either adds credit to your personality or subtracts credit from your personality. Work with fashion and be moderate and flexible.
It seems to be a tough scheme but doable. Do you feel that it is easier said than done? Contact me to get your free consultation now at onlline_contact@theimagecians.com
