The way that most break ups happen, one person is usually kind of caught by surprise. Even if they can look back and see that there were signs that things were starting to fall apart, most people try to be optimistic about things and they hope that things are going to be able to work themselves out in the end. Of course, that does not always happen and sometimes you can find yourself on the wrong end of a break up. That can be hard to deal with. It can make you feel heart broken and confused. And, it can make you feel like you don't know what to do now that you are alone.

You have to be able to find a way to deal with the break up, though. If you don't, you are just going to find yourself unhappy and alone and that is not a good way to be. You definitely don't want to be the guy who sulks about his ex girlfriend, you want to live life to the fullest.

Here are 5 tips that can help you to deal with the break up so that you CAN live your life to the fullest:

1) Accept the fact that the relationship has come to an end, even if that is not what you wanted to happen.

Acceptance is one of the first steps that you need to take if you are going to be able to move on. You can't live in denial about the fact that the relationship has come to an end and have a good life. So, as much as it may hurt to do this - you need to be able to accept the fact that you and her are no longer a couple.

2) Don't allow yourself to just think about the memories all of the time.

You really can't move on when you are living in the past. You have to be able to see a positive future and to do that, you need to suppress the urge to think about the way that it used to be. Everyone knows that it is so easy to get depressed about breaking up when you think about what it was like when you were happy with your ex girlfriend, so don't let yourself linger in thoughts of the past.

3) Take a look at why things ended so that you don't make those same mistakes again in a new relationship.

Part of being able to have that positive future is to become the kind of guy who can have a lasting relationship and to do that, you have to know what it is that went wrong and how you can make sure that you don't repeat those same mistakes ever again. It can be hard to admit your own faults, but it can also help you to become a better man in the end.

4) Schedule time in to have some fun being single again.

If you are miserable being single, you are not going to be able to really get over the break up. You need to be able to have an outlet for having a good time being on your own and even if that means that you have to schedule time to do that - do it. Most guys end up feeling depressed about breaking up because they don't do anything healthy to distract themselves. You don't want to do that to yourself.

5) Set some kind of goal that you want to accomplish and put your energy into doing just that.

While you may be keen on the idea of having a girlfriend and being in a relationship, it's also good to have goals that have nothing to do with that so that you have something that you can work on and if you achieve that goal, it can help you feel more confident. That confidence can help you to end up meeting someone else later on.

The idea of making yourself more desirable by making yourself less available doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about it.
