It happens to the best of us. No matter how passionate and exciting the first few months may have been, everyone falls into a rut. If you notice that your relationship has lately been lacking that spark and your partner is losing interest, then you’re in the right place. The beginnings are always fairy-tale like; you’re getting to know each other and that thrill on its own causes an attraction. But what about afterwards? What happens when he starts losing interest?rnIt’s common for women to panic when a relationship starts getting long. They feel that their partner will look elsewhere because the excitement isn’t there. This isn’t always the case, though. It’s all about what each of you are willing to do for your significant other. These are a few things you can do to keep your man interested. Figure it out Take some time and soul-search—figure out what’s causing the problem. Is it you or him? What can you do about it? With men, it’s best to be as straight-forward as possible; there’s no point beating around the bush. Tackle the problem head-on and have a heart-to-heart with him. In fact, they’ll be happy to tell you how you can spice things up with the relationship. Listen to him Men are constantly listening to their woman talk about their lives and how their day went. This isn’t wrong, but let him speak as well. Talk less about yourself and see what he hast to say. Ask him how his day was. Dedicate part of your day exploring his interests, work, and friends. Men don’t seem like it but they can actually have a lot to say. Your relationship is undeniably going to get stronger if there’s a good balance of conversation. Future goals Society tells us that this will scare a guy away. This isn’t necessarily true, though. Talk to your significant other about long term goals. If that doesn’t involve you, then so be it. No one knows what’s going to happen for certain. Try to stay away from the future-relationship topic, though. Ask him about his job and where he wants his career to head. You will end up getting signals that shows whether your relationship is on the right track or not. Timing is key here, too—if he’s not in the mood, avoid talking about the future. Spice it up Men aren’t the best at showing their feelings and reactions. Guys actually do like to see you live your life to the fullest. Who wants to end up in a long-term relationship with a girl that does nothing but complain and mope, anyway? It works both ways—women want their man to be spontaneous and fun, and so do they. Keep a positive look on life and don’t be boring. Plan action-packed activities for the weekend such as scuba diving or mountain climbing. Book a hotel and revisit the days you guys met. There are tons of things you can do to reignite the spark that was once there! Give him space Men need their space as much as women do. Let him go out and have a few drinks with his friends. Trust is the key ingredient to a successful relationship. You don’t have to be together all the time to be the best couple—building up individually will keep both of you from going crazy.

The idea of making yourself more desirable by making yourself less available doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about it. After all, Juliet would have plunged a premature dagger into the heart of her romance with Romeo if she hid in her room rather than go out on her balcony. The end of Sleepless in Seattle shifts from "awww" to "aw, no" if one of the two main characters skips the trip to the Empire State Building. As these examples from fiction show, making yourself
