I had heard a lot about different alternative energy modalities out there and looked around at what they had to offer. I even experienced a few with varied results. I kept coming back to Reiki and wondered about its mystic and magic. I often tell clients, “If your intuition leads you to something listen to it, do your homework, and find out more”. I decide to take some of my own advice…

Let us begin with a history of Reiki:

The word "Reiki" [pronounced ray-key] is made of two Japanese words) Rei means "God's Wisdom" or "The Higher Power." Ki means "life force energy." and translates to “universal life force energy”.
The best understanding we have been able to uncover is that Dr. Mikao Usui re-discovered the system of healing in 1914 after an experience on Mt. Kurama
Usui eventually trained Chujiro Hayashi, a retired Japanese naval officer, in the mid-1920s. Hayashi then passed on his knowledge to a Japanese Hawaiian named Hawayo Takata. Takata introduced the Usui Reiki system into the western world. Takata was born in Hawaii, but a series of various illnesses led her to travel to Japan to seek out answers to her health problems. Takata returned to Hawaii in the 1930s, and she eventually passed her knowledge of Reiki onto 22 disciples before she died.

The following is a description of Reiki energy work based on my experience through my practice.

Pain and discomfort, are not a natural result of life or aging, they are the ways our body lets us know that some aspect of our life is out of alignment or balance. Reiki releases blocked "ki" that kept the body in stress and poor health then energetically nourishes these areas

Reiki is a natural healing technique that feels like a flow of high frequency energy into and through a practitioner, and out the hands into the client. Reiki works in and around your energy centers (chakras), the energy pathways (meridians), and energy fields (auras). When energy circulates freely, people are healthy and generally feeling good.
Reiki Calms, Relaxes, and Restores
As I begin a session with a client, I place my hands on or slightly above the body at specific positions beginning at the top pf the head. Each position is held for about five minutes or as long as the client “draws” in energy. A session lasts about an hour.

Other energy healing modalities uses the energy of the practitioner, which can rapidly deplete the practitioner’s energy. The Reiki practitioner is a conduit or facilitator as the energy moves into and through their hands to the client, who will draw energy for as long, and where it is needed.

You can expect to feel deeply relaxed during and after a session as the Reiki energy moves through your body and energy centers. This subtle energy; with it’s calming and balancing effect on the body and mind, can literally transform you, as it clears energy blocks and reduces stress. The benefits of Reiki are both powerful and gentle.
In its long history of use, Reiki has aided in healing issues of stress and old habits and virtually every known illness and injury including cancer and other diseases.
A growing number of people are very receptive to energy bodywork, and less-than traditional healing modalities now available to us. Many are newly developed, and many are ancient healing arts being re-discovered. Chances are if you have found your way to this site, you are interested in energy healing.

I wish you many blessings along your journey in your quest for good health.
