Three Out of Three

“I want you. I need you. I love you.” Could there be any sentences sweeter than these to hear your lover speak?

Time for Exercise: 15 minutes

Properties Required: none

Steps:

  1. Prepare in advance what you will say to your lover for each of these three statements of endearment. What words will you say that accurately and honestly express how much you care for, desire, love, and need your partner? Give some specific examples for each statement.
  2. Sit your lover down and gaze into his eyes as you tell him how and why you want, need, and love him.

    Comments:

Just saying “I want you, I need you, I love you” is far less powerful and moving than if you tell him why and how. For example:

I want you. You turn me on like crazy. I think about you all the time. I can’t wait to get home from work to touch and smell and kiss you. Holding you in my arms is being in heaven. I want to grow old with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.

I need you. When you are with me, I feel invincible, as if I can handle anything the world throws my way. If you left, my heart would crack and I would fill buckets with tears. I like myself most when I am with you. You bring out the best and most beautiful in me. Together we can do anything we set our minds to do. You are my best friend.

I love you. When I look into your eyes little stars fly out into me. Your smile lights up the darkness. Your touch removes all of my fears and doubts. When we make love, it is as if there was only one of us. When we make love, we join hands with God.
