If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it. ~Mary Engelbreit

Three Attitude changes to create success and happiness in our life:

1. Love what you do. This seems like a no-brainer yet I can't tell you how many people I talk to every day really don't love what they do. Because I really like people, I talk with them everywhere I go - the grocery store, the gas station, restaurants, the coffee shop. I regularly ask the people waiting on me if they enjoy what they are doing. Very few say "yes". Most will say "it's alright", "it pays the bills". They aren't happy and it shows in their attitude.

If you don't love what you are currently doing, then change it. Think about what you want to do, what will make you happy and begin to move in that direction. If you can't make the change it right now, then change the way you think about your current situation while you are working toward getting where you want to go. The truth is that every job has its positives and negatives. To change how you think about what you are doing, you have to change where you place your focus and what you think about. If you are constantly focused on the negative - the long hours, the people, the menial tasks - then you will continue to be miserable. As long as you are miserable, you won't be able to receive any good that is coming to you.

2. Treat everyone with total respect. This doesn't just mean strangers, or people with power and influence over you or your clients. This really means everyone. Treat everyone the way you want to be treated. I have met people who treat strangers and clients better than they treat family. Some people do the reverse. They treat people they know very well while being rude and condescending to people in service positions. You can tell a person's character by the way they treat other people when no one is watching.

Focus on the good in others. Everyone has good qualities. Make it your mission to find the good in everyone and once you find it, focus on it during every interaction. Allow the good in you to connect with the good in the other. When you are focused on the good in others and in everything, then you are open to receiving more good.

3. Give your best effort. The truth is that you get back what you put out into the world. If you continually give just enough to get by, that is what will be given back to you. It is easy to go through life with the belief that once things are the way I want them to be (the perfect job, relationship, house, circumstances) then I will give my best effort. Until then, I will only do what is required of me. You will never get more that you give out - ever. If you want more, you have to give more. We don't reward students that are skating by with C's when they are capable of A's. The Universe operates under the same principals with us. Always give more than what is required and expected. That way you show the Universe you are ready to take on the responsibility of having more.

Make these attitude changes and see how your life changes. Doors will open up for you and good will come when you are looking for it and open to receiving it.

It really is all in the attitude.
