Key #8 Love’s Transcendence

"Worship means reverence and humility, it means revering your real self and humbling delusions." -Bodhidharma

The 8th and final key found in the novel "the 100th human" is the culmination of all the other keys, as love is not the means to the end. Love is the end, or as Deepak Chopra put it, “Peace is the Way.” Transcendence delivers Love.

There are two merged symbols for the 8th Key. The first is the sun, which represents the unconditional love of God, giver of all life on earth. The second symbol is the Mayan Hunab Ku, which means: One source of energy. The Hunab Ku tells us a story of the merging of duality into the Oneness that is. These symbols combined embody for us the moment of transcendence into unconditional love.

Jacky, the 8th gatekeeper in the story, both embodies and emanates the truth of Love’s Transcendence at the same time. Through his words and actions he demonstrates the surrender, humility and reverence that are required in each moment of transcendence.

"You, each one of you are exceptional. You are here because you chose to be here, because, no matter the danger, distraction or difficulty; you would not walk away from your destiny. It is every person’s destiny to be here this night.

"The Sun represents God and is the giver of all life on earth, and the provider of unconditional love. The sun is a symbol of deity, appearing all around world. The ancient Indian Vedas referred to the sun’s radiance as the supreme truth. It gives light, warmth and energy to each and every object below, forsaking none, for all are one to the Sun.

"Only through love can opposites transcend. Together they are joined in this moment – this moment of transition, this moment in time - when we transcend our bonds of duality and become One in Life and Love. The final key is Love – unconditional love, and reverence for each other as we come together in complete Unity." - Chapter 100 of "the 100th human"

We all must surrender to what is – as Life is as Love is. We must be humbled by Love’s perfection in every aspect of creation, in every human being and in every act of true courage. And we must revere Love’s light, the light of the sun/son, the light of God that exists in every moment. All fear, doubt, strife, darkness, pain and suffering fall away instantly - for the power of Consciousness, the light of unconditional Love dissolves it away. They are phantoms and can not withstand against the light of the Presence of Love.

"On the question of relating to our fellowman - our neighbor's spiritual need transcends every commandment. Everything else we do is a means to an end. But love is an end already, since God is love." - Edith Stein

In the final chapter of "the 100th human," the characters enact the ancient yogic expression – the namaste. This is an important detail to recognize. Within its practice, one can embody surrender, humility and reverence. Whether you practice yoga or not, it is necessary to completely honor the ideals in your heart, and in the hearts of everyone else, to transcend duality thus embracing unconditional Love.

". . . you, who have sought to conceal the truth, to kill us and stop this moment in history, it is you who we choose to represent us. You are our past. You are our fears and our ambitions. You are our duality. We embrace you in complete acceptance, love and reverence. We are One with you. You shall be the representative, for in this moment there are too many who come to the well, to count. But you are here, you shall be the flame that ignites the conscious shift of the whole, you are the 100th human.” The last part was spoken in unison by every being present, the words thundered loudly and rolled throughout the mountainside and beyond. As the last syllable was uttered, every soul knelt down, including Jack, Alana and Apu. They gave forgiveness, unconditional love and reverence to their enemy. Only (his) shocked intake of breath could be heard as he stood in complete bewilderment." - Chapter 100 of "the 100th human"

Forgiveness is a holy act that is required in order to transcend the duality of the pain-filled lives we live. Surrender, Humility, Reverence and Forgiveness - these noble words, once experienced, grant us the Power of Love’s Transcendence.

Don’t forget the other keys as well: Living on Purpose, Hearing the Silence, Infinite Possibilities, We Are One, Correctly Identified and Gratitude. Remember your thoughts count. Be the 100th human!
