You might ask, "What happens to all those eggs in a woman's ovaries when she goes through menopause?" Those creative eggs are transformed into creative ideas.

This time of life is like going on the Triple EEE ride of a lifetime, 24 hours a day. Ok, I felt like I was gripping the steering wheel constantly for three to four years.

It angers me that the medical profession calls menopause a "disease." Let's face it -- it happens to the best and worst of us. It has been happening for eons. Maybe that's why they call it men - o - pause! I believe it happens to men also. They finally have a name for it - andropause. How many years did it take for the medical profession to come up with THAT term?

Men loose certain hormones too, just like women. They go through their mid life crisis like we do. Their midlife crisis often includes women who are in their 20's or 30's. Their crisis begins with them trying to keep up with someone 20 to 30 years younger! (Ok, I'll admit there are women who also need the attentions of a young buck!)

Older men want women who idolize them and never talk back. They are being prescribed hormones just like women for their form of "disease." There is divine justice in all of this!

Women are offered all kinds of elixirs to ease their way. Unfortunately, some of these "solutions" create more problems for us. I chose to go the natural route. It was an up and down challenge. I am happy to report that I made it through! I am actually allot less cranky. Now, I don't have a good excuse!

In the Eastern traditions, women are honored when they reach this time in their lives. The belief is that when a woman has her period she looses her power. When the job of making babies is over, and a woman's blood stays inside, she holds her power. Women always hold the power. Men "have the spark to ignite that power." As we are all both masculine and feminine in Spirit women can ignite that power themselves -- so can men.

Instead of creating physical babies we create mental and spiritual ideas. These eggs transform into ideas and projects for the good of all. Many women come into the best, most productive, part of their lives at this time. As the Native American Indians say, "If you see something that bothers you, then you are the person to do something about it."

Women have been the nurturers for centuries. It is the women who are there tending to birth and death . . . tending to the gathering of food and friends . . . tending to the sick and spreading the feelings of love.

Menopause is the time when women come into their power. There is a freedom at this time that says, "You know, I really don't care what YOU think. I am going to do what I WANT!"

Let this be a time of gathering, a time to bring all this love and caring that we have given to our families and stretch out that family to include our beautiful Mother Earth and its 6 billion plus children.

Women must speak up and from their hearts. It is the time to end discord and pain on this planet. It is the time to LOVE and pray for PEACE.
