Single Minded Intentions Lead To Success
Written by William Frank Diedrich
Success for organizations takes single mindedness. Determine what you want and then take unwavering action toward it. Leaders in organizations who talk about treating people right, but in reality treat people with disrespect, create pain and resentment. People see the gap between what is said and what is actually done. This causes them to lose respect and motivation. Leaders who create expectations must hold themselves and others accountable. When you walk the walk you create trust. When you don't walk the walk; you create mistrust.
At the individual level, sales people who set goals, but then spend their time doing other things, find themselves falling short. They may blame the economy, but in truth they are not taking unwavering action toward their goals. Success takes discipline and focused action. It is easy to get discouraged when results don't come quickly. Allowing distractions to take over only creates more frustration. Stay focused; learn; take unwavering action; and be patient
In any communication with another person be clear about the results you want. If you are ambiguous, you will create confusion. If you are going to say something to someone, make sure you really mean it. Eliminate words like: "sort of" and "kind of". When you soften your message you undermine your goals. Speak directly and with respect. At the same time, be a good listener. It is helpful to know what the other person wants and needs, also. You can produce powerful results when you are clear about what you want and you take unwavering action toward it.
