Given the amount of complexity we're juggling, these times demand a positive outlook. It sounds simple. We should begin each day based upon the present, enriching ourselves with whatever today brings. But do you find it difficult to generate a positive attitude given natural disasters, unemployment, or illness?
Creating a positive attitude means viewing every day as a new choice, no matter how we slice it. We get to start over the minute we get out of bed. The sun comes up in spite of our mistakes or despair we must face. I believe we are meant to continually move forward - and focus on life as an incredible universe of opportunity.
Use Affirmations to Stay on a Positive Course
An affirmation is a positive, present day statement that declares your current state of mind and expectation as valid. It acknowledges to the mind and body that what you hold in your mind is real. Affirmations are a spiritual idea, and non-quantitative. They are based on the universal truth, “As within, so without.”
What you create, and whatever your mind accepts as reality, is how you perceive your world. Opposite thoughts don’t attract, that’s an urban legend! Like attracts like, as in The Law of Attraction, and everything you see is a result of either individual or collective thinking. Thoughts are energy and hold a “vibration” or resonance, because everything is energy. When a person becomes disciplined about what they think and affirm, it becomes their real-work reality, which can be measured.
Release the Past and Move Forward
What blocks a positive attitude? Getting stuck in the past holds us behind. True empowerment stems from living now, not reacting to now from a mindset of the past or living with worry about what might happen tomorrow, next month, or next year. Every day, no matter what has happened to you in the past, is a new opportunity to begin painting your life on a fresh, new canvas.
Over the years, I've experimented with ways to release the past and move forward with a positive attitude, living life joyfully in the present moment. I've noticed when I start my day without any clear direction of how I choose to think, I don't get the results I want. Instead of spending time regurgitating old problems, choose to move loss, disappointment, and feelings of non-success far from your mind. Say an affirmation that will address some area of your life that needs improvement and make your perception of reality pleasant and meaningful.
Live Proactively
Present moment awareness and having the ability to move forward without guilt, resentment, or unforgiveness is the way to make more room for personal growth. It’s a conscious, daily effort. Without it, you are propelled by cultural ideas, the negative status quo, or mainstream thought that is not productive or your own.
Many people spend their entire mental and emotional energy on self-doubt and worry, and none on learning to move forward in life. Challenges and pain are inevitable – that is part of our earth experience. But we can minimize them, gather wisdom, and view these lessons as beneficial to our own self-development. That is when we begin to have mastery over our own lives.
Release Negative Experiences
Once you release a negative experience, whether it is about your circumstances, parents, bad relationships, or old events, you must “make peace” with it. This is true forgiveness…when you can rise to viewing it as an opportunity for transformation and refinement. Embrace your personal challenges in the present moment, which is where your most power will be. Today is what matters, not yesterday or tomorrow. It is the best way to begin any day with strength!
Affirm Regularly!
Developing a positive attitude requires discipline. Use affirmations to keep you on a positive and productive path and release old mental and emotional baggage along the way. Let’s affirm together:
“Life is a curvaceous and fluidic journey. Because I am always moving through learning stages, I cannot look back or measure. I learn through my relationships because that is how I begin to define who I am. Nothing is unforgivable in life. I know nursing this hurt is holding me back from fully being with others; therefore, I choose to thank the universe for giving me another opportunity to develop my soul by knowing another person. I move easily through this experience.”
Remember, your fuel to make it work, other than to be loving, is to realize that you are composed of Divine Spirit. You are a limitless example of uniqueness and wonder.
Let’s dedicate this day to the present moment. Say your affirmations with love, be grateful to be alive, and be in charge of your learning opportunities. Ask the universe to show you its inherent perfection. The power of your own thoughts will return to you in ways that'll surprise you!
As you remain open to positive change, I believe your life will unfold in creative ways.
