All relationships has its ups and downs. Whether it is with your family, friends and bosses, they are the same. The same goes for you and your spouse. Here is my advice on getting your spouse back when your marriage is on the rocks and going to end anytime.

1. Identifying The Root Problem And Solve It

This is the most critical. Without which, everything else you do is useless and will not get your spouse back.

For this to work, you cannot work alone by guessing and assuming. You need to talk with your spouse personally. If that still does not work, you should seek advice from family and counsellor.

2. Writing How You Feel To Your Spouse

If talking is not what you are good at or your spouse refuses to give you a chance to explain, the next step is to write how you feel.

1 thing I discovered about most people is that those who are not good in expressing verbally are very good and natural in doing the same on paper. Like myself.

In contrast, those who are good in expressing verbally instinctively hit a brickwall when facing a blank of paper online or offline.

Whichever the case, writing helps to organize your thoughts and phrases. It also helps you to be tactful as you have the time and plenty of chances to amend what you need to say before actually revealing to your spouse.

In normal conversations, you cannot do that. Once you said something wrong, that is it and you cannot correct. But in writing, you can.

3. Be Honest With Yourself And Your Spouse

If you are at fault, you need to be honest with yourself and your spouse regardless of how big your mistakes might be.

Extramartial affairs, gambling, lack of communication, violence and even working overtime are some of the key reasons for relationship breakdown.

Anyone – even a child – can tell you this.

4. Apologize, Assure And Keep To Your Word

Let’s face it.

Nobody likes to apologize.

But relationships are never perfect. Due to differences in the way we are being brought up, think and behave, there will always be conflicts and differences. Even in the government sector or churches.

We like to think and do what we feel is right. But the problem is our people may not always feel the same way we do. The same goes for your spouse.

If you have done something wrong whether it is having an affair with someone else, gambling or any of the above I mentioned, you should apologize, assure him or her and keep to your word of not repeating the same mistake again.

3 simple sentences like “Honey, I am sorry for hurting your feelings. Please forgive me and I promise not to do it again” can make a huge difference to your marriage and relationship.

With that being said, this is my advice on getting your spouse back.

The idea of making yourself more desirable by making yourself less available doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about it. After all, Juliet would have plunged a premature dagger into the heart of her romance with Romeo if she hid in her room rather than go out on her balcony. The end of Sleepless in Seattle shifts from "awww" to "aw, no" if one of the two main characters skips the trip to the Empire State Building. As these examples from fiction show, making yourself
