One in every ten persons in the world suffers from peptic ulcers and stomach problems. Prilosec is the drug used to treat such ailments. This drug comes under the class of drugs called proton pump inhibitoirs(PPI). Prilosec is also known as omeprazole. These are the inhibitors used to block the production of acid by the stomach. Prilosecs are used for the treatment of conditions such as ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, which are all caused by stomach acid. Gas problems are quite common in today’s humans as they eat a lot of junk food, oily food and do not exercise. This prilosec drug blocks the enzyme and thus the production of the acid is decreased and this allows the stomach to heal. This drug/medicine prilosec was approved by the FDA in September 1989. Who so ever suffers from heartburn, difficulty in swallowing, and persistent cough can get relieved by the usage of this medicine. Though everyone in this fast paced life wants instant results but these products do not relieve heartburn right away. They don’t work instantly.

SIDE EFFECTS: Headache or abdominal pain may occur with the in taking of this medicine. If we suffer from these effects then we should consult our doctor. If our doctor has directed us to use this product, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to us is greater than the risk of side effects. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, we must get medical help right away if we notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing, headache,diarrhea, constipation,upset stomach,vomiting,stomach pain,cough,cold symptoms.

We should take PRECAUTIONS before taking Prilosec (omeprazole) as we cant afford to suffer the side effects of any medicine at the cost of our daily jobs, chores, works. So, we must tell our doctor if we are allergic to it or if we have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. We should tell our doctor about our medical history, especially of liver disease before using this medication. Before we self-treat with this medication, we should tell our doctor if we have any of these signs of a serious condition: trouble/pain swallowing food, bloody vomit, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, bloody/black stools, heartbu
for over 3 months, frequent chest pain, frequent wheezing, nausea/vomiting, stomach pain. Prilosec (PPI) may increase our risk for bone fractures, especially with longer use, higher doses, and if we are older adults. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. This medication passes into breast milk. If we are taking prilosec drug then consultation with the doctor before breast-feeding is a must.
