Zyprexa is recommended from Food and Drug Administration to treat schizophrenia and acute manic episodes associated with bipolar I disorder. This medicine belongs to atypical antipsychotics class of drug. Other members of this class include clozapine, risperidone, aripiprazole and ziprasidone. The exact working of Zyprexa is not known yet. It may work by blocking receptors for several neurotransmitters in the brain. It is thought to work by changing the actions of certain chemicals in the brain. Zyprexa is sometimes used together with other antipsychotic medications or antidepressants. This medicine ca be used for other medical conditions as presribed by the doctor.

Zyprexa is a prescription medicine used to treat psychiatric conditions. It is used to treat a mental illness characterized by impairments in the perception or expression of reality, psychiatric condition defined as recurrent episodes of significant disturbance in mood and depressive episodes. Zyprexa is available in the form of tablets and solution for injection. The main ingredient of this medicine is Olanzapine.

It is a prescription medicine so before using this medicine you should know full information about the medicine to avoid any serious side effect.
1) It should not be used if people allergic to Zyprexa or to its ingredients.
2) People suffering from dementia should not take Zyprexa drug as it may prove fatal and cause severe side effects.
3) People suffering from liver problem, kidney problem, heart problem, increased level of cholesterol, have had a heart attack, increased blood sugar levels, eye disease should not use this medicine without doctor recommendation.
4) People taking this drug should avoid alcoholic drinks.
5) This medication should not be given to children below the age of 18 years.
6) Pregnant and breastfeeding mother should not use this medicine without doctor recommendation as use of this medicine bypregnant and breastfeeding mother may harm the health of unbo
baby or nursed child.

You should inform your doctor if you are taking any prescription, non prescription and herbal medicine before taking Zyprexa to avoid any side effect. This medicine should be taken as prescribed by the doctor. The dosage of the medicine should not be increased or decreased on your own. The dosage recommended for Zyprexa medicine is 5 mg to 10mg everyday. Take this medicine with a full glass of water with or without food. Store this medicine at room temperature away from light, heat and moisture. Keep all medicine away from children and pet.
