St Croix is emerging as the new hot spot to visit in the Caribbean for quite a number of reasons. Its culture was shaped by rum and sugar and stretches back some five-hundred years to the the time when Christopher Columbus first landed there. There are beautiful homes there that were built in the 1700s that will astound you with their architectural splendor.

The two main towns on the island are Christiansted and Frederiksted and walking their streets are like stepping back in time to the 1700s and the 1800s, with a non stop feast for the eyes. For hikers, there is the “Heritage Trail” that winds you through the entire 28 miles of the island, with stops at various notable points of interest.

Of course the diving is superb, with excellent visibility in the crystal clear, blue Caribbean water that surrounds St. Croix. There is a ferry that can take you to the Buck Island Reef Monument where you can take in the best diving and snorkeling to be found anywhere.

If you are interested in lounging on sandy white beaches and enjoying swimming in warm clear water there is no better destination then this island that is a part of the United States Virgin island chain. You don't need to bring your bike along with you on your visit, because just like everything else on St Croix there is already accommodations there waiting for you.

Bike rentals and bike tours are easy to find and the prices are very reasonable. Of course the dining is nothing short of fantastic with local delicacies such as jerked pork and conch served at quaint sidewalk chafes in town. You will find the lodging affordable, comfortable and easy to find and there is always things for your kids to do there if you bring them along.
