Allergy - Its Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

An exaggerated reaction by our immune system when the body comes in contact with certain foreign substances it is called as Allergy. When your body overreacts to substances that do not cause any harm to the people, it means you are suffering from allergy and these things are called allergens. There are various symptoms from which you can come or got to know that you are suffering from allergy. An allergy skin test can be done by the doctor to determine what exactly causing you allergy. There are various substances that can cause you severe reaction are pollen, mold pores, food, pet dander, insect sitting, dust mites and medicines.
Causes of Allergies
Allergy is very common in the people. Both genetics and environmental factor plays a significant role in causing allergy. It is the immune system that protect the body from the attach of harmful substances like bacteria ans viruses. Histamines is the natural chemical produces by the body to fight off the allergen. It causes rashes, muscle spasms, swelling, hives, mucus production and itching and causes vary from person to person.
Symptoms
The symptoms of allergy vary from person to person. But there are some symptoms that is common in people. Common symptoms include Breathing problems, Conjunctivitis, Diarrhea, Hives, Itching of the nose, Skin rashes, Vomiting, coughing, swollen eyes, Coughing, Headache, Runny nose, Stomach cramps and Wheezing.
Treatment
There are various medicines available in the medical stores for the treatment of allergy. It is very common in the people. The most recommended and trusted medicine for the treatment of allergies is Cetirizine. Cetirizine is a medicine used for the treatment of allergy, it is not a prescription medicine but can be available over the counter. It comes in the form of syrup and available by the brand name. Another product related to this medicine is Zyrtec. If you are allergic to this medicine or to its ingredient you should not use this medicine to treat allergies. Its main ingredient is dihydrochloride. If you are pregnant or breast feeding mother you should not use this medicine for the treatment without doctor permission as use of this medicine may harm the health of unborn baby and nursed child.
You should take this medicine as it is mentioned on the label of the medicine. Do not increase or decrease the dose of the medicine without consulting your doctor as it may resulted into serious side effect. You should take Cetirizine after your meal. Try to take the medicine on the same time each day. If in case you missed your dose take it as soon as you remember, note that if it is the time to take next dose avoid taking missed dose and continue with the regular dose system. Store this medicine at the room temperature. Keep this medicine at the dry place away from light, heat and moisture. All the medicine should be kept away from the reach of the children and pet.
