For the longest time, makeup has been seen as something that is used to cover flaws; however, most women use it to strengthen their characters. There is nothing wrong with putting on makeup to boost one’s self-esteem, and women should not be persecuted for wanting to feel good about themselves. Wearing makeup is part of women’s history and is a practice that was born way before its critics.

Researchers from the University of Chieti, Italy, and the Harvard Medical School, U.S.A., conducted a research project about makeup, in which one hundred eighty-six female students participated. The research team tried to check the “lipstick effect” on these students. This effect came out to be a psychological phenomenon that resulted in a boost in their confidence. In addition, their self-esteem, personality, and attitude witnessed a positive change.

For many, makeup is an artistic expression. It helps people come out with their creativity and provides them the freedom to imagine what they could be. This is especially true for the members of the LGBTQ community as they put makeup on to express themselves better. In addition, it makes people aware that women are not the only ones who wear makeup. Someone who identifies themselves as a man or woman can wear cosmetics to change people’s perception of them. Thus, it’s a fact that makeup does make a person confident.

Although there is undoubtedly a lot of positivity surrounding makeup, it could also have negative effects. Many people use makeup in their daily routine, which could harm their skin, leaving them with acne or open pores. So, many manufacturers have now moved toward organic makeup choices to overcome this challenge. With the same intention, Amanda Lavery, a Canadian fashion model and influencer, came out with the idea of organic makeup products.

CoCaBee is a Canadian company from Ottawa created by Lavery’s tiring efforts. It all started when she decided to create her own product, frustrated by the hunt for all-natural, cruelty-free, organic lip balm. Through a series of tests and trials, she developed a lip balm recipe that is 100% organic and made from natural and raw ingredients, like, coconut oil. Luckily, the product she developed worked better than the non-organic lip balms as it was smoother, more flavorful, and gentler on the lips. Then she decided to expand her organic creations, and so, CoCaBee was born. Incorporating innovation, biology, agriculture, and modern technology with an organic, future-friendly philosophy, CoCaBee is based on eco-friendly and sustainable products.

Lavery traveled from Canada to the U.S.A. to promote her brand with passion and determination. On her tour to Los Angeles, California, she had the opportunity to show her products during the Oscars gifting suite, where celebrities like Billy Porter, Edwin Hodge, Luis Guzman, and Ava Cantrell loved her makeup line.

Using bamboo cases instead of conventional plastic is another testimony of Lavery’s capabilities. By embracing and incorporating new ideas, she ensures the growth of her company.

Lavery reported in an interview, “We wanted CoCaBee to be paraben-free and 100% natural, no harsh chemicals and preservatives. We created a luxurious lip balm using the natural basics of coconut oil, honey, and beeswax to create a smooth, lasting lip balm in delicious natural flavors like peppermint, lime, coconut, and eucalyptus. Sourcing our ingredients through accredited and certified suppliers is key to ensuring it is safe and tested. Our containers are made from natural and renewable bamboo. Eco-friendly packaging is key, and we want to eliminate as much plastic as possible to help our earth. Every CoCaBee product is handmade in Canada using natural ingredients, making them the perfect eco-friendly addition to your beauty routine.”

As CocaBee continues to reach new heights, Lavery also decided to evolve alongside it. Passionate about the issue of women in business, she uses her platform and story to encourage others.

Lavery is now all set to take the beauty industry to another level. Focused on her mission, she has expanded her line of products to include hand cream as a certified clean and cruelty-free product. CoCaBee’s future products will continue to have innovation and change, but their motto will always be strictly limited to natural, safe, and eco-friendly inventions.
